This luminary uses the Hearts Come Home set with the Santa and Reindeer.
Cut
the vellum 3 x 2 3/8. Make the
vellum piece first so it has a chance to dry.
With your 1” circle punch, punch a hole in a post it note and put on the
vellum. This will be your mask so you can make the moon. I used Smokey Slate but Basic Grey would also
work. Lightly sponge the moon. A
tip: pat the sponge on the ink pad, tap
it on your post it note and then dab it on the vellum. This takes any
harsh ink edges off before inking the vellum.
Be
careful –it doesn’t look wet but it is.
And ink on vellum smudges easily.
Now
stamp your Santa and reindeer with Basic Black.
You might want to see how the vellum lines up behind the window to get
the placement you want. Again…. Let it
dry (or use a heat tool on low) to ensure it’s dry.
Now
make your bag (I bought mine on Amazon, they are about 5 x 6” Trim the top of the bag to get rid of any
jagged edges. Draw a rectangle 2 ¼ x 2 ½
on the bag and cut out the hole. I find it easy to put my hand in the bag and
snip in an X format, so cut to each corner and then trim.
Run
the bag through the Big Shot using the Card Front Builders dies that match the
Christmas Carol set to make the stars.
You’ll see that the front, back and sides get punched out but I liked
that look. While you’re at the Big Shot
cut out a tree and deer from this set (don’t worry that the tree is big, you’ll
cut this down to size. )
Use
the Hearth and Home dies to make your window I used Early Espresso but lots of
colors could work… even the new wood paper. . Attach your stamped vellum piece
to the window with dimensions (or foam strips).
Attach
the tree and deer to the edge of the window. Trim the tree bottom so it lines up with the edge of the window. Attach the window to front of bag with more mini dimensionals. Insert
an LED tea light and if you wish a small gift or candies.
Why
is this called Santa over Mars… it has 2 moons (the moon you created and the
tiny moon from the dies just like Mars!
Happy
stamping! MaryKate
