Summer Nights July Paper Pumpkin Add on Cards

This month's Paper Pumpkin was super fun - I love the kit just the way it was designed.  The stamp set is very cute (see far right) and with the "you're invited", the RSVP, the lines, it also makes fun invitations.

Here's a 3 minute video to show you how it goes together.

And with the Add On option (24 card bases and envelopes) I made up these 6 cards using the left over die cuts (and I still have more die cuts to use).

I have lots of extra card bases left and I have a design in mind using the "fireworks" burst stamp with silver embossing powder and the greeting You Light Up My Life, stay tuned.

The refill kit is still available for $10 (and I think there are packs of the Add On bases left as well, also $10). The photo on the right shows you what you get in the refill (everything except the ink and stamps).  This would be a fun class to host... let me think on that!!

Box of Sunshine - June Paper PumpkinDon't forget, if you want the Paper Pumpkin you need to sign up by the 10th of the month (latest) and these days we are seeing kits sell out a bit earlier than the 10th.  Next month the Paper Pumpkin has a focus on "hero's"... so many hero's these days: healthcare providers, family, coaches, first responders, grocery workers, delivery folks... we are blessed with so many hero's.

You can purchase Paper Pumpkin kits as a single kit, or as a subscription and it's easy to see the options in the online store!  At $20-$23 per month (depending on the subscription), it's a great creative "escape"!

Hippo Happiness - Be a Unicorn

 Another Hippo Happiness Card!

Here's a link to a video so you can see how it goes together, with a few tips on lining up the stamping.

Click here for the short video on how to make this card

This card has a few extra steps but it’s so fun and I think worth just a few extra minutes!

Make the base card
1.       Coastal Cabana 8 ½ x 5 ½ folded
2.       Bermuda Bay 5 ¼ x 4
3.       Silver foil 3 ¾ x 2
4.       Granny Apple Green 3 ¾ x 2
5.       Add a strip ¼ x 5 on top of the foil and Granny Apple Green

Make the Shape background
1.       Take a scrap of whisper white about 4 ½ x 3 and add 6 strips of cardstock that are 1/2” wide but about 4 ½ (I used Mango Medley, Gorgeous Grape, Melon Mambo, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight)
2.       Die cut the largest of the shapes
3.       Stamp the stars so they look they come from the unicorn!
4.       Add this shape to the base with dimensions
5.       Add a 1 ½ circle of vellum with a dimension

Make the unicorn
1.       Stamp off the larger body with Melon Mambo
2.       Stamp the smaller body with full strength Melon Mambo
3.       Add the face – tip: line up the nostrils!
4.       Die cut a tiny unicorn horn in silver and add to the head of the unicorn
5.       Add to the vellum (no dimension)

Ok .. this card takes a few extra steps but I think is super fun and I hope you make one 😊

This is such a great bundle, look at all the dies! Love the 3 shapes, 3 dies each shape, all nesting and with the stitched edge.

If you purchase the bundle in my online store and use my host code (top right on this site) I will include a kit to make 3 cards (2 of each, total 6 cards with envelopes)!  If you want this bundle… this is a great deal and it means you can immediately begin crafting when this arrives.  Super fun!

1.       Stamp the hippos on the Bermuda Bay 3 ½ x 4 ½ with a “tone on tone” stamp, randomly stamping hippos to make your own designer paper.
2.       Add the black piece (5 x 3 ¾) to the base card, add the stamped Bermuda Bay card stock. Base is 8 ½ x 5 ½ folded in half.
3.       Stamp the hippo on a scrap piece of whisper white, first stamp off (to make the color lighter) then stamp the

2nd stamp full strength
4.       Stamp the hippo’s face (tip: line up the nostrils)
5.       Die cut the hippo
6.       Stamp the bow tie in Gorgeous Grape and die cut this
7.       Stamp 3 balloons, 2 are Bermuda Bay (1 is stamped off) and the other is Gorgeous Grape.

You are done… all this card needs is a stamp on the envelope to make someone’s day 😊

Bermuda Bay 5 x 3 ¾
Gorgeous Grape ¼ x 3 ¾
Highland Heather 3 x 3 (die cut into the middle stitched shape)

Forever Fern Friendship Card

A quick post to share a pretty card from a lovely friend.  My friend and Stampin Up team Judy made this card to celebrate our friendship.

I think she stamped in Mossy Meadow, Sahara Sand and Terracotta Tile.  I love how she stamped off to get the extra tones.

And the embossing folder is a lovely addition.
So pretty.  My hunch is that once she chose the colors, it was an easy card to make.

The bundle offers stunning matching designer paper, the specialty gold paper, dies, ribbon and more.

I started crafting as I like it, it's fun, it's simple and I love using and sending the cards I make.  I had no idea when I joined this fun team how many lovely people I'd meet both locally here in Maine and then from coast to coast!  Judy's note was so lovely - she and I collaborate on classes, ideas, and we "drop into" each other's team meetings (on Facebook Live).  She's in California but a card like this makes me feel like she's next door.

I hope you make and send a card to someone soon... it really changes a day and a week!  Thank you Judy!

Whale of a Time Shaker card

A fun easy shaker card, made easy with our foam strips, and made fun with an embossing folder technique.

Here's a quick video to show you how to create this embossing folder technique and the foam strips. Click here for the video

Details/Dimensions

Base of the card 8 ½ x 5 ½ folded.
Mint Macaron is 5 ¼ x 4.  Punch out a 2 ¼ hole into this paper.
Stamp your mint macaron ink pad right on to the matching Whale embossing folder called Sea Bed, place the mint macaron piece right into the folder, run through the Big Shot.

Tips on creating your shaker:

1.       Secure a window sheet (cut 3 x 3) on the back of this Mint Macaron piece (I used Tear n Tape, Stampin Seal would work well too).
2.       Use the foam strips and create a circle of foam (fairly close to the edge of the circle) ensure this circle is closed so your sequins don’t pop out.
3.       Use 2-3 foam strips to the right of the circle so the whole card is equally dimensioned.
4.       Position your designer paper on your base card (this piece is 3 x 3, and I used the paper with the small fishes).  Secure this piece to the base card.
5.       Place a small mound of the sequins right on top of the “fishes” designer paper (on your back card).
6.       Now place the Mint Macaron piece right on top of the mound – ensure that this is on square.
7.       Decorate the front of the card – I used a 3 x 1 ¾ banner with a greeting. And I punched out a whale from the designer paper
8.       Stamp inside with a greeting. I also fussy cut a small whale and put him inside!

Super easy, I hope you try it! Happy Stamping! MaryKate

Summer Days Diorama Card

So many lovely comments on the easy-to-make Whale diorama card, thank you! Click here for Whale card and short video on how to create these diorama cards

Here's a totally different look for a diorama card, made by my team mate Cathy Jones.

A side view... with the Cider In Color Designer Paper

And a angled view so you can see the stamping!

I love it!!

So creative. She stamped all of her "walls" in Cinnamon Cider a new in-color on Very Vanilla for a stunning sepia look!  Do you love the kite string in twine?

This is a great card layout for photo cards, or using designer paper as I did with the whale.

I hope you make one, so fun!  If you'd like this host set please reach out to me after you place an order in the online store (with a minimum purchase of $50) or contact me MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com, the set is only $13 (plus ship/tax).  So cute.

Merry Moose Meets the July 2020 Summer Nights Paper Pumpkin

I needed a thank you for a generous donor to our Great Moose Lake Association (yes I live on Great Moose Lake in Maine!)
Thankfully the Merry Moose is back.  He arrived in the new Aug-Dec 2020 Mini Catalog. If you love him, I'd order him Aug 4 when the catalog goes live! He sold out in 17 days last year, a super fun stamp set and Matching Moose punch.

The July 2020 Paper Pumpkin has an add-on card kit of 24 bases and 24 envelopes.  So I took one of the bases and created this thank you card.

I ran the base through the Big Shot with the Evergreen Embossing Folder (new in the new catalog), this is just how my lake looks!  My moose is punched in Cider on Crumb Cake cardstock.

Along the bottom you'll see I stamped some water from the Merry Moose set and then added crystal effects for a sparkling water finish!

Here's the inside - using the Beautiful World stamp set (class for that set is Aug 12!)

And here's a photo of my lake yesterday... doesn't it look like the card base??

I think so - happy stamping MaryKate

Nothing More Than .. Love you More Than Chocolate, Cookies, Cocktails and Coffee

A fun set of cute cards - quick and easy to make!!  This set is adorable. I have a short video explaining how to put these 4 cards together.

Click here to see the video

I used notecards (7 x 5 folded) and regular cards (8 1/2 x 5 1/2 folded).

This set was designed by Connie Stewart and I love her use of this fun set with the dies.

Tips:
1. Use the adhesive sheet on the back of the cardstock you use for the words, it makes attaching them to the cards and the boxes a breeze.
2. All the circles are 2 1/4" I found that layering them in different ways made the cards look different.
3. For many of the stamped images I stamped off e.g., the coffee cup, the cocktail glass so the color is lighter.

Colors:
Granny Apple Green
Magenta Madness
Crumb Cake
Early Espresso

The smaller box is a paper pumpkin mini box.

The larger box dimensions are

Base of the Box is Magenta 7 ¼ x 8 ½ (cut a smidge off 2 connecting sides), score at 1 1/4

Lid of the Box is Whisper White 7 x 5 ¾, scored at ½

My lid is decorated with a piece of Granny Apple Green 4 ¾ x 3 ½, the Magenta piece is ¼ wider

I had such fun with this set and my class all loved it!!

All of these items (set, dies, adhesive sheets, circle punch, cardstock) are all in my online store - happy shopping - don't forget the host code so you can get free goodies in the mail!

Whale Done Diorama Card

I put off making one of these cards (that my team mate Cathy created) as I thought it would be hard!! And they are so easy 😊

This card will easily fit flat into a regular envelope.

Here's a short video that makes it super easy to put this card together Click here for the video

Cardstock: cut 2 pieces 7 x 3 and score at 1 ½ from each end (these are your front and your back “walls”). Cut 1 piece 5 ½ x 3 and score at ¾ from each end, this is your middle “wall”.
Before you put this together
1.       Decorate your back wall (I used the turtle designer paper) with stamping, a photo or designer paper) that is 4 x 3
2.       Decorate your front wall (remember a lot of this will be removed with the largest stitched shape oval) and the 2 sides. I used designer paper cut 3 x 4 (front wall) and 1 ½ x 3 for the 2 sides
3.       Decorate your middle panel with a piece cut 3 x 4

Now you have decorated the walls, die cut the front wall with the largest stitched shape oval and die cut the middle wall with the 2nd largest oval die.

You are ready to put this together.
Start with the back panel and adhere the middle wall to either side.
Add the front wall.
As you adhere panels, keep your project FLAT on your surface and simply place the panels on top of each other (I think/hope the video shows you how easy this is!)

Add a greeting – I added “my love for you is bigger than the ocean” and maybe add a few sequins!

Alternative idea… you can make the panels and the designer paper as high as 4 ¼ and it will be a more square diorama card. I used the 3” height as I wanted to maximize my designer paper 😊

Happy card making! MaryKate

Whale Done Scenery Card

This Whale Done is a fun set with a matching punch, designer paper, sequins and embossing folder (Seabed). I have several projects with videos for you.

This is a scenery card and whenever you see designer paper with a “scene” this is a great option for you (as is a diorama card which is later this week!)

Here's a link to the video and below I have dimensions, tips, photos.  Click here to see the video

Base is 8 ½ x 5 ½ scored at 1 ¼ and 4 ¼
Fold the base in half and the fold the front flap back

Cut your scenery paper to 5 ¼ tall and cut 3 pieces:  panel 1 is 2 ¼ wide, panel 2 is 1 ½ and panel 3 is 2” wide.
The last “panel” is whisper white cut 1 ¾ x 5 ¼.

Tips on putting this together
Add the front panel first making sure you put the top left of the scenery panel on the top left of the card base (it’s surprisingly easy to mess this step up!).  Make sure you put your adhesive on the cardstock NOT on the panel (again, it’s surprisingly easy to put glue all over the panel (and this will not work!) No need to make this mistake, I’ve made it for you!

If wish to add ribbon now is the time BEFORE you add the middle panel. Tie about 20” of ribbon around this panel with a knot and/or a bow, then add the middle panel.
Now add the third panel.

Stamp the last white panel and add that.

Add to 2 circles to the front – one is 2” and the other is 2 ¼” you can add a turtle or a whale or a sentiment.

Add lots of the whale sequins to the card (why not?)

If you'd like to purchase the whale set, punch, paper, sequins or the folder, you can click on the shopping cart (top right) and head to my online store!  Include the host code and free goodies are coming your way :)
