Easter Egg Thrones with the Scallop Tag Topper and the Carried Away Paper

Cadbury Creme Eggs are an Easter Essential!   These are fast and cute to put together.. and a creme egg really needs a throne :)

The egg throne:
Whisper White 3 ½ square, score at ¾ all sides. Fold the box, and then either punch or cut out the circle in the middle of the box.  I find a  1 1/4 circle is best but use what you have between 1 and 1 3/8

Then make the box “bottom” from the whisper white, adhering the sides of the box.  (Really it's an open box with a hole to hold the egg.)

The egg holder:
Designer Paper 2 x 11, score at 4 ½ and 6 ½   Fold the paper on the score lines, punch with the scallop tag topper punch
Punch out the large oval, ensuring it’s at least ¾ from the bottom
Adhere the throne into the holder.

If you wish, you could add a clear window sheet to cover the hole (but I didn't).

Tie the holder with ribbon. I used the 5/8" wide striped watermelon water to match the paper.

Add on an Easter Greeting with the every useful Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  A personal favorite.

Happy crafting everyone - don't forget it's the last day of Sale-A-Bration today 3/31/17 ... every $50 you spend lets you pick a free Sale-A-Bration item.   I'll be on email if you have questions, MaryKateScott@gmail.com

Tip Top Taupe Handbag with Cottage Greetings

We have a team challenge each week: either a set of colors or a sketch.  The winner is selected by the random number generator (so phew, it's not about talent!)

Here's the challenge (only 2 colors!) and my entry. I was dying to add some silver embellishments so it would look like my Taupe/Silver Coach bag!  The mini 3x3 thanks card uses Cottage Greetings and white embossing.

Our April 22 class includes handbags and cards, see the events tab for class details.

Sale-A-Bration has about 24 hours left... and if you join before March 31 you get $125 of anything you would like for $99 plus your pick of any 2 free stamp sets (pick the Jar of Love if you don't have it, stunning and why not choose the more expensive set?!).  You can keep your account open, or not, zero obligation, lots of fun.  And join in our weekly team challenges!! Truly I just don't "do" obligation, many on my team enjoy their own account 20% off everything and never sell anything... entirely up to you.

Zee Fold Card with Lots of Love

One of the team asked for a refresh on this card... such a fun card and totally versatile.  These images are from a host set Love you Lots.

Fold the card at the score lines so it makes a “zee”.

Adhere the designer panels (sides) to the solid panels (I used real red and melon mambo, to match the designer paper).  And then adhere one to the inside panel and to the front.

Stamp the creatures on the whisper white and the greeting love you lots.  You can either use markers or watercolor pencils (with or without the blender pen) for the creatures.  Maybe a bow on the hedgehog?   I used the grey pencil on the elephant.   Adhere this to the solid panel

READ THIS PART…. Adhere the left side of the stamped panel to the front of the card.  So put glue ONLY on the left side of the card.  You know as you read this I’ve goofed on this and put glue all over J  don’t do this!!  See the photo to the right… the right side of this panel cannot be glued!!

Want to add a gift card?  Easy… Add another panel on the inside of the card, make sure you adhere down 3 sides and then the gift card fits in easily!
Do you like the lady bugs, hedgehogs, or the elephant mouse?  I think I’m a hedgehog fan!   Her little bow is made of matching melon mambo twine :)

Whisper White 11 x 4 1/4 Score at 5 ½ and 2 ¾
Solid panels: 1 of 3 ½ x 2 ½ and 2 of 2 ¼ x 3 3/4
Whisper White:  3 ¼ x 2 1/4
Designer Paper panels: 2 x 3 1/2

Watercolor pencils with blender pens

A card from last night's class.

Simple idea - tone on tone stamping in Watermelon Wonder with the greeting, and add the free paper for coloring.

Just color with your watercolor pencils and then blend with the blender pen.  Add the greeting, burlap and twine.

So pretty!!

And don't forget if you love these in-colors they retire end of May, so get the inks, markers, paper and matching embellishments this month while there is still stock AND get a Sale-A-bration item.

Happy crafting, MaryKate

2015 2017 In Colors are retiring.. anything you are hankering for??

The in-colors from 2015-2017 retire in 2 months... if you have a hankering for the cardstock, ink, markers, or ribbons, I'd stock up now (and get a Sale-A-Bration item).

I'll miss mint and maybe watermelon, maybe dijon.. you?? PS I have a few things to add to a final order that I'll put in March 29 so message/email me if you want to share shipping :) yup - frugal me here!!

Fun night last night ladies... so many cute Cool Treat cards and bags!!  After seeing all the Cool Treats we made, I want to get the matching paper while it's still free as a Sale-A-Bration pick.

Happy crafting! MaryKate

Cool Treats Bags and Cards 3/27 at Warsaw

Update class is Monday 3/27 (that's tomorrow) at Warsaw 6-730pm!

I love this set, it says spring to me and I can't wait for warmer weather. The card to the right of the bag was one we made at class a few Sunday's ago... and given how much fun we all had, we're doing more with Cool Treats!

The Cool Treat bag is a lot like the LLBean bags we made last summer (same easy way to make the bag) but in cute spring paper! We'll make the bag, a small card for the bag and a larger card (and surprise 4th project, not cool treats). Of course there will be paper choices. :)

Here's a close up of the ice cream cone with sprinkles!

My talented team leader Becky Roberts made these bags and the card on the bottom right is from Raquelle Clifton - I love my team!

If you're looking for the cards and packaging we made just search "cool" in the search bar on this page (top right) and you'll see the notecards with washi tape in this set.

Happy Crafting - send me an email MaryKateScott@gmail.com or PM via Facebook to join me tomorrow, thank you, MaryKate

The Easter Blessing Card with a vellum festive flower

Make the festive flower with the Festive Flower punch (remember when we used this at Christmas for poinsettia's

You’ll need: 8 large leaves and 4 small leaves; 2 moustache looking leaves, 2 of the “x’s” that are the flower in elegant eggplant and daffodil delight– and 1” circle (that won’t show).  Gently fold (crease) the flowers down the center (not a firm fold just a crease).

Put glue in the middle of the circle and then arrange 4 large leaves.  You’ll see that the leaves have a rounded end and a pointy end. I like the pointy end outwards and the round end in the middle.   Put more glue in the middle and arrange the next 4 large leaves.

Put glue on the ends of these large leaves and add the 4 small leaves.  Then gently fold (see photo below) and glue the 2 moustache looking leaves.  At this point I put the flower to one side for 15 min and let it dry, as you’ve likely used a fair bit of glue!
Then glue the 2 tiny flowers in the center.

Consider making the center with elegant eggplant
Now adhere all the layers, add the flower

The very talented Brenda Jordan made this 2 versions - love them!!

Dimensions and supplies

Very Vanilla 4 ¼ x 11
Daffodil Delight 3 3/4 x 5
Very Vanilla 3 x 4 ¼  for the greeting
Elegant Eggplant 3 ¼ x 4 ½
½ sheet of vellum for the flowers
Stamp set: suite sayings
Inks:
Elegant Eggplant

Avant Garden Easter Blessings

I love this free set Avant Garden (one of the Sale-A-Bration items, you can select with a $50 purchase, finishes March 31)

I used Wisteria Wonder.  Here are all the how-to's.

Adhere the designer pieces to the solid layer
Adhere a strip of ribbon (no bow yet!) to the middle
Stamp on the  2 x 3 3/8 with the flower, stem, stamen (middle) and leaves, match this to your designer paper.
Adhere to your card – I used dimensionals – why not? J

Stamp the greeting from Teeny Tiny Wishes, punch out the greeting with the Classic Label punch and adhere to the card (of course with dimensionals)

Tie a bow and adhere with a glue dot.

Consider a greeting inside your card (I used the Easter sentiment from Suite Sayings) and also decorate your envelope with matching paper.

Whisper White 5 ½ x 8 ½ folded
Designer  2 pieces – 3 ¾ x 2 5/8
WW: 2 x 3 3/8 and 3 x 1/2
Solid cardstock  5 ¼ x 4 (back layer) and 2 ¼ x 3 5/8
Ribbon about 18-20” I love the organza

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone (there's a little bit of Irish in all us) and whole lot in me!!  Enjoy the day and wear your green!

I made these fun treats and cute cards and packed a big box for my Mom to share.  And I went to the dollar store and added in socks, glimmer green hats and sunglasses!!

The Shamrock is the pansy punch with one leaf turned into the stem.  Quick and easy.  With all of our greens to choose from I picked Emerald Envy - do you have a favorite?

The greeting is from the ever useful Teeny Tiny Wishes - it's a go-to set for me!

Here's the sketch and mine above ... I can take things a bit literally and I'm in Easter mode!

Above is Terri Nadeau's... love the use of High Tide set and the sun for the circle and the wooden heart (my head sometimes sees something like a heart and I can't see past Valentine's Day - do you get like that? and I LOVE her idea for the embellishment to be this heart.

Here's Elaine Motley's  to the right... wow, so modern! What a fun color combo of Mint Macaron and Pumpkin Pie, She used the Swirly Bird set (did you know it was the best seller bundle when the new catalog was released last spring?) So versatile.

And here's Sally Allen's below with the the Botanical Flowers and new Beautiful You set.  Love it!

Heartfelt Sympathy

Sadly I find myself having to send  sympathy cards these days.

However I think these are the most important cards we send. These are the cards we keep and cherish.  When my Dad died a few years ago, we received so many lovely cards with so many thoughtful wishes ... and I still have them all.  I put them in an album and I love that all these cards and lovely thoughts are right there.

Anyway... this set is lovely and simple and I find the sentiment that I use inside the card is what is coming from my heart.

Easter Bunnies with Circle Punches or Laying Circles

Super cute! We made a bunch of these at class.

You can put them on skewers and add to lilies

Or on a box or basket with a clothespin

Or on a card.  Or a little package.

Cut 2 circles (about 1 ½”), add a face to one circle, add rosy cheeks with watercolor pencils (or you could use a blender pen and ink.

Punch ears (I used the festive punch) and blushing bride pinks
Glue a clothespin between the 2 circles and clip the bag closed

On the left I attached them to skewers and put them in Easter Lilies

Carried Away with Dimension

This paper is part of the Sale-A-Bration offers, buy $50 and choose a free item from 15 great products (stamp sets, ribbons, and this paper).

I just cut out the mountains on the paper and then added a bit of dimension and layered on the "mountains".  I love the 3 colors balloons... the basket (bottom part) I stamped in Daffodil Delight, the top part of the balloon I stamped in Calypso Coral, then I dipped a dauber in the Peek-A-Boo Peach and daubed this onto the stamp in the middle.  Then I breathed hard on the stamp to moisten it up and stamped out the balloons.  Easy but I think so pretty.

The big balloon has a more obvious "stripe" as I didn't blend in my daubing... thought I'd leave it so you could see how it's better when you blend (see the smaller balloon).

The I stamped the greeting and cut out the balloons and the cloud with the matching dies.  A fun set.

I love the coral - navy combination... hope you do too

Beautiful You in Pink Polkadot

I know.. another card with Beautiful You!  But I just love this set.  If you type "beautiful" in the search bar (to your right) you'll see all my other cards with this set.

This time, I stamped the image on the card, then stamped the image on the pink polkadot paper, and cut out her dress and hat.  So simple but I think really pretty.

This one is a birthday card, but it would make lovely thank you notes for a bride with the dress cut out in her own colors!  Also it's a notecard (3 1/2 x 5) so not so much to write :)

Hope to see you at class March 14 or 28 at Warsaw OR at our Big Event March 25 in Pittsfield.  Click on events for details.
