Easy Pop Up card with Abstract Art

With a new catalog coming out June 1, my team is in full "swap mode".  We each make 10 identical cards and send them to 9 team members (keeping one for ourselves).

This is my swap to show our new In-Colors for 2018-2020.

The card is all stamping with just a 1/2 x 5 1/2 strip of the new In-Color designer paper.

So I used all 5 new colors - Blueberry Bushel, Call me Clover, Pineapple Punch, Lovely Lipstick, Grapefruit Grove on the front of the card.

The 2nd green is Clover just stamped off (so you tap tap tap on the ink pad, then stamp on a scrap piece, then stamp on your card and it comes out lighter).  With the "stamping off" technique you have a LOT more colors than you think!

The card front is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 (whisper white), the base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2.

Inside each card is the die cut butterfly from the matching dies.  I used all 5 colors for these butterflies.  The sentiments are all Blueberry Bushel.

Super easy pop up card to make. Above you can see 3 more pop up butterflies.  Take your base and score in half as usual, this is the blue dashed line that folds up as a "valley".  Make 2 other score lines (the red lines) - measure 1 1/4" from the left and right of the fold line and 1 1/4" down the fold line.  Push these folds out, so they are a mountain fold.

Test run the butterfly so when inserted you can't see it from the outside (see the top image with all the cards...all the butterflies are hidden).  Attach glue dots to the very edge of the butterfly (I used 3 dots) and secure your butterfly inside.  When the card opens, the butterfly pops out.

I'm creating an instruction set with many (more) photos, tip, how to's and extra projects. Free to anyone on my team, or if you make any purchase (no matter how small or large) it will come to you as a color PDF file!

Fun, don't you think?  So easy.  Once your card is all folded, stamped inside, with the butterfly, put glue on the card front and attach the stamped front (don't put glue on the stamped card as you might put glue in that top corner (how would I know that LOL?!)

You can buy all 5 in colors at 10% off in my online store until May 31 end of day.  June 1 when the catalog goes live you can buy them all.. but the 10% goes away.

Here's the whole color set along with the continuing 2017-2019 in colors.

Wednesday June 6 I'm part of a 20 person Coast-Coast blog hop where you will see all these new In-Colors used in many different sets, new and carried over.  I'll be showing you how to create an Apron box in these colors and a few more goodies. See you June 6 at 9pm ET (or 6pm PT).

Happy Stamping - MaryKate

PS need a catalog and don't have a demonstrator, I'd be happy to put a catalog in the mail.  Just email me MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com

PPS if you like the Love what you do bundle - you get the free goodies til May 31 and the 4 free projects from me as well!

Last Chance Sets - now 50% off

As you know we are about to get a new annual catalog and so we need to make room for the new sets.

There are several retiring sets that I really just love and I offer all my (gently) used sets at 50% off retail and they come with a coupon worth 50% of this price.  To illustrate, if a set was $20, you buy it for $10 and you get a $5 coupon to spend in the new catalog... so if there's anything you might get, this is a great way to get it, with a coupon!

Here are a few sets and some projects.... Vintage Leaves

the box with all the fun stamping in fall colors...

the card sets... and if you search "vintage" in the search bar you will see more cards, bags, wine tags... this was a big favorite!

And Cool Treats - loved loved loved these fun ice cream treats, we used them year round not just summer!

search "cool treats" and you'll see how we used them at Easter and more.

Watercolor Wings was a special set that comes with 2 butterflies - a larger one and a smaller one.

I used them in so many different cards, here's just 2

Don't forget they are available either on my online store or from me used. If you drop by the online store be sure to use the host code. Last month every one received a packet of dimensions and this month it will be new ribbon from the new catalog!

happy shopping, MaryKate

Picture Perfect Congratulations!

We love celebrating on my team - especially when someone promotes!!

This card and small gift celebrates achieving Bronze Elite and what that means is 25% off everything, all the time Woohoo!!

We love that everyone on the team does "it" their way. Some on the team make a great business out of Stampin Up and many enjoy being a demonstrator to get their own supplies at 20% off (or when Bronze Elite 25% off).

We stamp together every other month, have a Facebook page with ideas, a chance to win any stamp set of your choice twice a month and some of us travel to OnStage a convention of Stampin Up demonstrators.

Consider joining us... there are no obligations after you buy the kit (you choose $125, pay $99 plus tax, free shipping) and then if that's all you want that is perfectly fine. All the fun, zero obligation.

Feel free to reach out to me, or click on the tap "connect and join".

Congratulations!!  Happy Stamping, MaryKate

PS love this paper from the Love What You Do Bundle and the matching velvet ribbon :)

Share What You Love Suite

This is such a pretty suite, love the stamp set, the sentiments and oh... the designer paper! This card design is from Carla Blake.

I gave each of my team members a sample of paper, the matching ribbon, cardstock and some got doilies too and they each made different cards.  I've been posting these on Facebook and on our pinterest site.

You can see a huge selection on this Pinterest site (from our big nationwide team!)
Click here for card samples and ideas

I'll post a few more samples tomorrow and next week as well.

Tomorrow's card uses the paper and the very popular Picture Perfect set (more than just for birthdays) and you'll see how this paper suits a lot of sets.

I appreciate not everyone loved the bundle provided by Stampin Up! Well.. I've heard your advice and I'm offering a bundle (stamp set, 6 sheets of designer paper, embossing folder and a half sheet of the pearls), total if you are local is $40 (so I'll provide free shipping and no sales tax!)  You can collect this either June 16 (catalog launch) or June 23 (summer crafting class).

If you are not local, I will offer the same bundle at $46 to cover shipping to you and will have to cut the paper into 6x6 sheets.  Email me if you are interested, and I'll send you a paypal invoice and get you a bundle early in June when all these items are available separately!

Happy crafting and happy browsing our Pinterest site, MaryKate

Beautiful You Graduation Card

I like to personalize my graduation cards with school colors.

This is one is for a special person graduating with top honors and a first place award from Villanova with school colors of Navy and this light blue which I think is Tempting Turquoise (so sad this color retires May 31 but fabulous new ones are coming).

I used the set Beautiful You with the dancing girl and placed a mortar board cap ( 1/2" square ) on her head.

The little scroll is about 3/4" x 2" rolled and tied up with silver and white twine.

I colored her dress with the Stampin Write Markers in Black and Tempting Turquoise.

You will see a silver gem ... this is the first place award that was a large round silver medal!

I made the tassel from white twine colored with the Turquoise reinker.  I unraveled the twine so I have just a single strand.  Created a loop, tied up the loop.

The inside is simple from the same set.

Card Dimensions:
White 3 3/4 x 5
Black 3 7/8 x 5 1/8
Turquoise 4 x 5 1/2

I've used this set a lot.  Click here to see the set used as designed with watercolor pencils

Happy stamping, happy graduation and congratulations to all graduates!!

PS YES this set is in the new catalog.  Didn't get your catalog? Drop me an email to MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com

Heartfelt Sympathy

Condolence cards are so important.  I tend to keep mine simple, like this card.

It's very simple, with a 5 1/4 x 4 piece of the Eclectic paper, a dragonfly from the Dragonfly die set, with a simple "with Sympathy".  I like the vellum on the pretty paper.

Inside I used the Heartfelt Sympathy set for just the right sentiment.

The stamp set and paper retire and I'll certainly be keeping this stamp set for a while as I just love the sayings.

Take care, MaryKate

Share what you love - new bundle

I should call this "The Mindy Project" as my friend Mindy asked me to make a set of "easy, pretty cards in a box to give away" and this is it!

The box is easy. To make the box
1.Cut the front flap 7 ¼ x 4 ½, score at 6 and 6 ¾
2.Cut the back flap 6 x 4 ½, no scoring
3.Cut the front box 2 ½ x 11, score ½ on the short side and on the long side score ¾, 5 ¼, 6, 10 ½
4.Emboss the front with the Lovely Floral folder, burnish the folds and then notch off the ends at the very top, just a tiny bit (this will be inside the box). See photo.
5.Make the box, cut out the ½ x ½ scored corner, then snip the tabs and notch the tabs (not the long pieces, just the short tabs).
6.Adhere the box to the back flap
7.Adhere the front flap to the back with tear n tape or liquid glue along the ½ piece
8.Tie about 24” of twine around the front, trim the ends.

The cards can be found in my post from May 3, Click here to see the details of the cards

We have a May team challenge, where I sent my team supplies from this bundle "Share what you love" including designer paper, ribbon and cardstock (of course all matching!) and they each got different paper.  The challenge was to create 2 cards and take a photo and send to me or post to my Facebook page.

Here's 2 from Elaine

And 2 from Petra

Every card comes out so pretty with this lovely paper!! I'll be posting more creations with this bundle over the coming week.  And this paper works with just about any stamp set!

Don't forget if you buy the bundle Stampin Up gives you free items and I also send you a package of supplies with instructions to make up 3 cards and a box!!   I love free!

Happy stamping! MaryKate

Lovely words, lovely friend, hello Lovely paper

It's good to remember that simple cards can be just as wonderful to receive as our more detailed cards.

This one uses the Lovely Words set and the Lovely paper, and the Soft Sky ribbon.

Base is 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, the Soft Sky layer is 5 x 3 3/4, the designer paper is 4 3/4 x 3 1/2.  Cut the word from the Soft Sky layer (it will be covered up), then adhere the layers together.  Then tape the ribbon around the 2 layers, securing it to the back with scotch tape.  Now make the bow and simply put it on with a glue dot.  Easy.  Looks like you tied the bow in front..but you didn't!

Now all this card needs is an envelope and a stamp.  Make someone's day with real mail!

Sadly this die set and the paper and ribbon are all on the retiring list. Get them quick before they disappear... you know in a few months that you will be hunting down these dies on eBay!

Happy stamping, MaryKate

Happy Mother's Day with A Mother's Flair

I wish you all a happy Mother's Day.

I made my Mother in Law this card and created a matching wine tag and envelope.

The card uses aquapainters to create the watercolor look (Daffodil Delight wash, then Pumpkin Pie, and Flirty Flamingo splashes).  I matted it on a Pear Pizzazz Base. And stamped in the matching Pear Pizzazz ink for both the card and the tag.

I love wine tags, they are a quick way to decorate a perfect gift!

Happy day to you all!

Happy crafting, MaryKate

More of the May 12 Drop In and Craft Projects

Thank you all for the lovely comments on the May 12 Drop In and Craft projects.

Here are a few more that you will be able to choose from.
The Colorful Seasons cards (above) were a big favorite, along with the adirondack chair die from the matching thinlets.

This project below is 1 bag and 1 card (from 1 sheet!).  Lots of colors and styles to choose from. Nice for birthday but also great for Mother's Day.

These coffee cards were one of the most popular classes so I've promised that I'll have a lot of options for coffee related cards and gifts (see yesterday's post for the coffee cups and coffee candles).

Add caption

The dragonfly notecards in a matching box are a pretty gift and the watercolor wash is super easy to do with aquapainters.  The matching dies make it fast to create the dragonflies.

The foil cards are colored with the Blends and this is a stunning Mother's Day or Hello or Thank  you card.

The At Home set has a door that opens. And I used this for all 4 seasons (not just Christmas).

A simple card that is perfect for a hello or thank you.

And my Adirondack chair... this says summer to me.

I hope you can join us - Sat May 12 from 11-4 at the First Congregational Church Hall in Pittsfield! It's $2 per item and you can make as many as you'd like!
Happy stamping
