Jar of Flowers Team Swap

Our team is coast to coast and when a new catalog comes out we sign up for a swap where we make identical cards and mail them out. That way we have new ideas, samples to share at our classes and on our blogs. I'll have my team mates creations posted June 4-June11 right here!

Here's mine. I chose the Jar of Flower set. There's a matching Jar punch but this card didn't need punching.

Here are several variations.

These 2 in Misty Moonlight with different ribbon and different paper - which do you like? Do you see they have different ribbon? and one has a lable and one doesn't (I might use it as a thank you or birthday).

I love the matching paper and used the "second side" for the back layer (5 1/2 x 4 1/4). I matched the paper to the solid cardstock using new in colors: Jade, Bumblebee and Misty Moonlight (cardstock is 3 1/2 x 4 3/4).  The Whisper White is 3 1/4 x 3 1/2.

Tips:  Stamp the jar, then stamp the stems, making sure the stems go to the bottom of the rim not the top of the jar (otherwise they look like they float!).  You'll cover the top part of the jar with ribbon and a knot a bit later.

Color your stems, I used Dark Pool Party blend but your markers, watercolor pencils, a blender pen - will all work great! Use what you have!

Stamp the flowers (also in Memento black) and color in (I used blends, any coloring tool will work).

Once your top layer is done, use the reverse of the large jar stamp and stamp with versamark, cover with clear embossing powder and melt the powder with your heat tool so the jar looks like it's holding water.  You could have black embossing your flowers if you wish.

I covered the rim with ribbon, then added a knot with a glue dot.  For each of the cards I "auditioned" different ribbons, this one I think is better with the Jade gingham, the Bumblebee makes it just too much yellow!

Here is the card without the knot... the knot adds!

Don't forget to decorate your envelope with DSP scraps - mine measure 3/4 x 4.

This is a really fun set.

While making these swaps I got a big smudge on the front of a card, tomorrow I'll post how I fixed it.

Don't forget to subscribe to be sure to get all my posts. I always include measurements, tips, ideas and variations!

Stay tuned for swap cards from my team mates... I know they will be amazing.

Paper Pumpkin Box of Sunshine for June

Here's a short video on the upcoming Paper Pumpkin for June. It's going to be a super fun box of crafty goodness!

Paper Pumpkin is a monthly subscription, you can buy a single month or a subscription. Easy fun and inexpensive $23 delivered.

Last month (I think for the first time!) Paper Pumpkin sold out before the deadline of the 10th of the month!! So if you are thinking of getting this month's box, I'd do it quick and not wait til the last day (10th of the month).

I'm guessing with all of us working from home, staying safe, more people are crafting!

Anyway... if you don't have a demonstrator I'd love to be yours and earn your business. If you are looking for me on the demo website my zip code is 04943!

Happy crafting

Team Winners

We have a weekly challenge on our team and each week 2 winners are selected by a random drawing of all that enter.

This week our 2 winners received a hand stamped card and frosted flower embellishments!

Each week the prize is different - often it's embellishments, ribbon, sometimes designer series paper.

Our current challenge is to emboss anything: a card, tag, box, gift packaging, whatever they would like.  It's always fun to see what each person creates and how we use our products differently. We all love the inspiration!

The prize is a big one this week - a stamp set of your choice from the new catalog!!

What a fun team we have - over 20 of us in several states - I hear there's a "mail box watch" each Wednesday or Thursday each week to see what the challenge is!

Would you like to join us?  It's fun to be a demonstrator, you don't have to do the business route and sell things, many demonstrators simply enjoy the 20% discount on all their products and enjoy the team creativity and commraderie.

To join, you choose $125 of anything you'd like, pay $99 and sales tax, no shipping.  That's it.  If you don't order again, that's ok, no obligations.  Let me know if you have questions, MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com

Happy stamping,
and team members - enjoy your winnings!!

Merci wrap with Field of Flowers Greetings

This is  a quick project using the new Flowers for Every Season designer paper and Field of Flowers greetings (see the posts over the past few days for these projects).

You'll need a 3 x 3 piece of designer paper. About 20" of ribbon. A handheld punch and some scraps for stamping.

Put a piece of tear n tape along one side of the 3 x 3 (the back side).  Wrap the paper around the merci chocolate and secure the dsp (not too tight).

Punch a hole in the top (2 layers).

Thread your ribbon into the front hole and back hole, now push the merci chocolate into the "tube" of paper, tie a bow.

Stamp some words and add to the front of the chocolate.

This is such a fast easy fun wrapper to make so I hope you make a lot!

I have a paper share happening now.... 60 pieces of new designer paper 6x6, 1 piece of glimmer, 1 piece of velveteen also 6x6, 6 yards of ribbon, 30-40 embellishments .. a fun catalog sampler. $32 pick up at my home in Maine or add $8 for priority secure shipping (with cardboard for stability).  You can email me MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com to participate and/or get further details.  It's fun to get a sampling of the paper and ribbons and embellishments!

Deadline is June 1 or until spots run out!

Happy weekend to you all

Field of Flowers #Simple Embossing

Hi everyone - what are you stamping these days?

My team is busy with 2 challenges, one of them is to emboss anything (a card, box, tag, bag, anything) post on our FB team page, I'll put all the entries in a bowl and draw a winner.  The winner gets a stamp set of their choice from the new annual catalog that goes live June 3!

I sent them each this card as inspiration. It uses the new Field of Flowers set.  It's so easy to create.  I cut the Purple Posy to 3 3/4 x 5 and then used the Stamparatus to make 30 of these cards.

Tips:  wipe the cardstock with an embossing buddy (more below on this tool), use Versamark ink to stamp the image (the grass, the flowers), cover with embossing powder, shake off, and use the heat tool to melt the powder.

Embossing is so easy yet has a great "wow" effect!

The embossing buddy... sure you can buy one for $6 ..but I made mine and one for each team member.  I had strips of plain fabric 2 1/2 wide, and made a little pocket, filled it with cornstarch and sewed it up. I made about 50 of these in about 20 minutes and spent $4 on 2 tubs of cornstarch!

Embossing buddies are also great if you end up with a bit of adhesive in a place you didn't want it. Just rub the buddy over the adhesive and poof, gone!

I used the silver-edged cards for my cards and sadly they are gone. They are now retired and once retiring items are gone, they are gone.  Don't forget to check out the retiring list (you click on the cart top right of your screen or use the drop down menu) and select "Last Chance Products".  I have a great thank you gift for everyone this month (it's a surprise!) who uses the host code.

It's a great time to join the team as you can select $125 of anything including items from the new catalog, pay $99 and tax (free shipping, a free Paper Pumpkin, free catalogs and more!)  No further obligations if you choose not to keep your account. Totally up to you.

We have a challenge each week and I usually draw 2 winners, an early bird and then a Monday winner.  Usually I send bling or a stamp set or other goodies.

And of course you join our fun group on Facebook where we craft together, Zoom, share ideas, participate in challenges!  I'm so grateful to my fun team for keeping me sane these past months!

Happy stamping, stay safe (and sane!) MaryKate

Field of Flowers #SimpleStamping

This is a new fun stamp set available June 3rd in our new catalog!

I think it might be overlooked, it's way at the back on page 117.  It's very pretty and I have set of cards using this set for you over the next several days.

I created a matching envelope.  #SimpleStamping
But I love it and hope you do too.

The set has a lot of options with the big "always". I used "believe" but there is "thinking of you", "celebrate" and more.

I'm hoping we can get together in small groups at my home starting May 30. And if so, we will be playing with this great set.

I've mailed out catalogs to you all... so if you didn't get one yet, please let me know and I'll put one in the mail to you!

Reach out to me on MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com if  you have a question, an interest in a catalog or a crafting class.

Stay well, stay safe, MaryKate

3 x 3 You're a Gem Appreciation Notes

I created little 3 x 3 appreciation notes and hand them out to my grocery store workers, post office people, bankers, everywhere I go.

It is such a tiny thank you, just a fruit gem (popular here in Florida as they don't melt!).

My little note simply says thank you... all these front line essential workers are keeping us all going. My colors were Blueberry Bushel (on the right, and retiring, get yours before May 31) and Coastal Cabana on the left.

It really has amazed me how much people are enjoying this tiny ray of sunshine.  I think the long self-isolation is really getting to many of us. I keep hearing "testy" conversations so I thought I'd take the opposite tack and say "you are appreciated".

Super quick to make. Find an image online (not copyright), and make a sheet of these images.  Put our whisper white cardstock into your printer and print off lots. I used the Label me Lovely punch and punched out the "gem" image and also the thank you note.

Take a 12x12 whisper white sheet, score at 3 and 9, cut into 6 x 3 pieces.  I made 24 of these in no time and gave them away yesterday. Today I'll make more.

Thank you frontline!

Peaceful Poppies Embossing - so easy but so wow

My Poppy suite is getting a good workout (search poppy or poppies and you'll see many projects from this set.

This is a simple card, just #simplestamping of the poppies in Versamark along with "friend" from Forever Blossoms (both sets are in the new catalog).

I love having the matching envelope and embossing makes it fast to do so.

Can you see the difference with the card on the left and on the right?  The one on the right has a 1/2" strip of the Frosted Folliage paper adhered to the inside of the card.

These notecards are retiring... so sad!  They are cute just 3 1/2 x 5 finished and come in 4 colors, these 2 and Calypso Coral and Old Olive.

Another #simplestamping embossed card, the flowers and agian "friend" along with the matching envelope.

I hope you try emobssing. All you need is the stamp, versamark (sticky ink), embossing powder (just $5 and it lasts for years!) and a heat tool (which is hotter than a hair dryer) to melt the powder.  All these are in my online store, just click on the cart!

Daisy Lane "hole" card

Today's project is a quick and simple card.

I punched a hole 2 1/4" round just a little to one side of the card front. I added a strip of 5 1/2 x 1/2" paper that I stamped (like making my own designer paper).

I punched 2 large daisies and 1 medium daisy and layered them. I added a little flower center and some green leaves. The base is 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 folded.

A quick hello card. I think it's got a great spring feel.

Do you love the colors? Lovely Lipstick and Call me Clover - both are retiring in colors so if you want these ink pads or the re-inkers or anything in these colors (paper, ribbon etc) then head to the store before they are discontinued at the end of the month!

Want to see another card with a hole?  Click here for a poppy "hole" card

This is part of the team challenge series. My team has all been sent a card with a hole and they are now figuring out what to put in the hole!  I hope this is a fun challenge!

Fun with 3 x 3 paper

Our challenge continues... and this is a cute card with 4 strips of 3 x 1 paper. (See posts over the past few days for our team challenge with 3 x 3 designer paper).

And while this one doesn't fit into the challenge, I just love this Bonanza Buddy paper. Also it's nice to see the size difference with the left notecard vs the right full sized card (5 1/2 x 8 1/2).

All the designer paper is retiring, so if there's anything on your wish list from the retiring catalog I'd get it soon.

Once items are gone... they are poof! gone!

Gift Card Holder It Starts with Art with Strip Notecard It Starts with Art

A few more 3 x 3 projects for you -- the 3 x 3 refers to the piece of designer paper

This is a quick and easy gift card holder that stands up due to the "m" fold at the bottom

For details and measurements, click here when I created this for Valentine's Day this year.

Here it is open so you can see the scoring.

And with the gift card

Here's a simple notecard that I love.  I took my 3 x 3 squares and made them 3 x 3/4 and added them to a layer measuring 4  3/4 x 3 1/4. I love seeing all the paper together.  I think it's perfect to send to a crafter.

And finally today, I used the 6 x 3 cello bags and filled with SunKist treats and used a piece 3x3 folded in half, topped with a flower.

So much you can do with a 3 x 3 piece of paper!
