Sea of Texture - the cute octopus!

Here are the 2 cards from my team mates that inspired The Sea of Texture class. We'll do these cards and several other projects.

The first is from Susan Morrison, I love that she Google'd "what color is an octopus?" and got so many interesting answers!

Love this Highland Heather look.

Here's a close up of the netting, these dies are really fun.

This one is from Heather Shaw in Coastal Cabana and Mango Melody (and a few other colors).

And I had to show you a few closeups.

We have a super fun team, and today is the last day to join, if you want the 10 free ink pads. You click join and then choose your ink pad family and then whatever you want for $125 - and pay only $99 and no shipping.

Colorful Seasons the Adirondack Chair

Is it an East Coast thing that we love our Adirondack chairs??  Maybe... but I do love them.

So this set Colorful Seasons with the chair die is a favorite. Yes it came out last year but I'm still turning to.  This card above was inspired by Suzie Barnes my upline and I love it! I love the wooden chair and the fun masking technique with the blushing bride ink.

This card was a swap card.

And here is the set used for 4 seasons.

here's the set ... if you're tempted it could be part of your demonstrator kit.  You know it's a great deal, $99 for $125 of products and this month (ends tomorrow) 10 free full size ink pads.  And you get 20% off all your holiday crafting orders.

Let me know if you have questions and happy stamping, MaryKate

Memories and More video

Hi

I should have included this short video on the different Memory and More packs in the Box Big series (see earlier today and also see Friday 27 July post).

It's about 5 minutes and you can really see the sets. I used Big Plans but the other sets would be great too.

Enjoy - MaryKate

More on the Big Box with Memories and More

Lots of fun at Friday's class making these boxes.

While it's not at all a race we were all happy to see that making the box and 6-12 cards took us each about an hour and a half.  These really make nice gifts.

Here's the closed box.  I'd add a ribbon before giving it away.

I thought I'd show you a few of the cards. Each card uses a Memory and More card that is either 3 x 4 or 4 x 6 or the narrow card (card is cut 2 x 4).  These cards are sold in a packet all pre-cut pre-scored. So easy. Lovely rich thick paper.

Here are the medium cards.

A close up, I added some sprinkles, sequins and dazzling diamonds

And the big cards - I like the sayings.  A few of the other crafters picked the flowered backrounds and stamped on the cards.

I added the dazzling diamonds by making a 1/2 white glue and  1/2 water mixture and with my aquapainter, tapping the watery glue on the card in a fine mist and adding the dazzling diamonds.  It takes about 10 minutes to dry but it made the card pop.

The narrow cards are fun to make and I used some of the stickers.

And I decorated one of the narrow envelopes. I think I might decorate all my envelopes. You get 70 cards in the box so lots of choices and supplies to make a lot.

And the tags. Just one of the 4 x 6, cut into 3 pieces 2 x 4, tag topper punch. If there are words on the back, make a plain white tag and glue it together, then add ribbon.

What do you think?

I've created some kits for you to make.  You let me know know which Memory and More set you want and I send you supplies to make the box, 4 large, 4 medium, 4 narrow and the tags. Ribbons, embellishments are all in the kit.  This would be fun to make, Cost to you with shipping and tax is $45 (see yesterday's post) happy to answer questions.

Waterfront - relaxing beautiful stamping

This waterfront is my new go-to set.  And yes I admit it took me a few months to warm to it!

I love relaxing stamping.  When you just stamp and don’t have to do too much work or careful alignment and it still turns out great! Do your prefer the horizontal or vertical?

I used notecards 3 ½ x 5, the Blueberry Blue layer is 3 x 4 ½ and the white card is 2 ¾ x 4 ¼ (so you get 8 from a sheet of cardstock).
My inks were crumb cake, crushed current, mossy meadow, granny apple green, pool party and blueberry bushel.  But honestly whatever inks you have will work just fine.

I made a big stack for a friend, and she needed something where she didn't have to write too much (I know how that is) and so I put in the "kindness changes everything". Love this sentiment from Abstract Art.

and then I made a stack for me with the Itty Bitty set with all kinds of greetings.  This will be great to have on hand. This really is a versatile set.

I originally posted here click to see the framed Waterfront look where I used the watercolor paper and made a photo frame.  I love that look.  But this easy version also has a wow factor (or I think so!)

Need inks?  Until July 31 you can be part of the ink pad promotion and get 10 ink pads free.  You join the team, select $125 for $99 (plus tax no shipping). No further obligation at all to buy anything more.  You have an account where you get 20% off until November 30 (nice to have the discount for your holiday crafting).  Email me with queries… MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com here, to help. All you do is click "join" click to join (or see top right corner of the blog), select your color family of inks and then choose your kit.  Easy!

Tropical Chic Luminary

I'm making a bunch of these for our summer party, tea lights are much better than real candles!

Cut a piece 12 x 6

Score at 2 7/8, 5 ¾, 8 5/8, 11 /12

Then on the short side at 3 ½

Now die cut the leaves 4 times

Put about 1/8 from the edge (place between the score lines)

Each time you die cut turn the die 90 degrees

Trim off the bottom left corner and miter it

Now trim off half this edge (you do this as you don’t want this to show through to the front.)

Now glue your box together and put in a flickering tea light and some Easter grass.  Do you like Pear Pizzazz or Flirty Flamingo??

If you order the bundle (Tropical chic stamps and dies) I'll send you the supplies to make the box, 3 cards, the easel card and the shirt, and this luminary, with a full color instruction set.

So head to the online store (see the shopping cart to the right) and get this fun set (do you have Spruce Ink? Green apple ink? ... if not, I'd add them!) I'll send you the embellishments and cardstock (all trimmed, ready to go, with the fun designer paper), but you'll need ink.

Got INK? Need INK?

Using the Stamparatus and Varied Vases for Fast Punching

The Stamparatus is great for making multiples with a punch or a die.  Here's the card I made, inspired by Julie Dimatteo.

First you punch out a template - you'll see the 3 vases the leaf and the tulip.

Now put this template onto your stamparatus with the magnets (don't let the magnets get too close they'll break!).

Now line up the 3 vases into the holes in the template.

Press the stamparatus plate onto the vases to "pick up" the 3 stamps.

Now put down a piece of paper on top of your template.

Stamp.  The 3 vases are now lined up perfectly to fit the punch.

See.. I insert the paper and punch. Now I have 3 vases (so quick to make many cards).

Now I'll place these 3 vases down on my card front 4 x 5 1/4.  I'll line up the 3 flower stems and the greeting.  Press my stamparatus down and pick up the stamps. Remove the vases.  And I stamp. All lined up just right.

Done! The Blackberry Bliss layer is 4 1/8 x 5 3/8. I love the thin border as I think it matches the thin stems of the flowers.

You can do the same thing with dies.  Use your Big Shot to cut many "blank" pieces.  Cut a template. Put the template onto the stamparatus and then insert a blank piece, stamp.  Do lots of times.  So quick and easy!

Sorry I've been a bit off with blogging... so much happening with family visits, summer fun, planning my Christmas in July event (sold out July 22 but a few places left July 20 - check out events tab for details).

Happy stamping, MaryKate
