I
love this set – it was my first pick from the Holiday catalog. I think you have to be a crafter to really
get into this set as there are a lot of pieces J and it lends itself to layering. So it’s a bit more work but I think the
results are worth it
I
have several projects for you on Day 6:
First
the card with the gift box. The box is 2 x 2 and is a tiny treat box with the
Night of Navy Crinkle ribbon and the mini sliver bow. The gift can’t be too heavy (maybe some
jewelry or candy? I left it empty to
make it easy for you to see. You can
make a box 2 x 2 or use an acetate treat box. You cut a hole in the card that
is at least 1 ½ “ down into the card (by into I mean down from the crease into
the card imagery).
So the hole here is
2” wide and it’s 3” total in length.
This is easy to do with your trimmer.
My greeting is inside the card.
You can’t mail this but it has some pop don’t you think? This was inspired by Becky Roberts.
Second
the Joy to the World Card
The
pool party paper is designer paper from the Christmas Around the World. I embossed the greeting and some stars in
gold embossing. Layered up 3 layers of
houses and some of the houses and the church I put gold foil behind. I added a Year of Cheer embellishment (the
star). The first and third layers are
cut 4 ¼ x 2 ½, the middle layer with the church is 4 ½ x 4 ¼. Lots of
dimensions.
Now
the candle – I bought these blue glass vases at the dollar store, put in a tea
light and some foil shred and wrapped the base of the glass with a long strip
of the cut out houses. For this one I
used watercolor paper and colored it in, I also tried putting on some dazzling
diamonds for snow and I like that a lot.
The
last card a 4” square card uses the masking technique for the moon (in Smokey
Slate) on top of the Pool Party cardstock and I stamped the Santa and reindeers in early espresso. I added the snowy village and my background
layer is glimmer paper.
I love using non-traditional Christmas Colors such as Night of Navy and Pool Party.
And they also
created a video so you could see how to use the dies. Click on the video and you’ll see that you
get a lot of pieces. I’ll make some tags
soon with that great topper.
We’re
at halfway with 12 days of Christmas – hope you like it – 6 more days to come
Oct 1-12. See you at class or Big Event
Oct 14 – happy stamping, MaryKate
