Day 4 Cherry Cobbler Pillow Boxes with silver tinsel trim - no dies required

There is a great die set Tags and Trimmings that makes stockings and pillow boxes… however this project does not require these dies (they make it a bit quicker but nice to know how to make your own pillow box pattern).

Cut the pillow box from the pattern (part of the pattern set) or see below on how to make your own pattern.

Score on the folds, burnish the folds, remembering that the curved folds need to be well creased, just press in a circular motion.  Punch the ends with a smaller round punch (eg 1, ¾ or ½ punch).  Adhere your box together with tear n tape.

Wrap your box with Merry Music paper (or if you have the music sheet stamp set you can make your own designer paper).  I used 7 x 2 ½ strip for the belly band, folded around the box and adhered with tear n tape.

Wrap about 18” of silver tinsel around the box and band.  Stamp a greeting punch out with the 2" circle and then add a starburst silver glimmer shape behind the greeting. I like how it matches the tinsel.   Add some metallic shapes to the greeting.  Add the 2 circles to the front of the pillow box.

In the photo left you'll see I chose to emboss the pillow box with the Holly embossing folder, I like this look but recommend you do all your folding, then embossing and then refold.

Or make your own pattern by creating 2 boxes (my box is 3 ¾ x 3 ¼, so the long side is 7” and the short is 5 ½ (yup 2 from 1 piece of paper!)  Add  ½” to close the box.  And the round the ends with a salad plate so it’s soft easy arc.

If you'd like to make lots or make them faster this Tags and Trimming set are great. The pillow boxes from these dies finish up 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 .  I love them and think that 24 stockings would make a cut banner and a great Advent calendar.

If you’d like the patterns for the full set of the 12 days of Christmas are included with the Oct 14 event (full color instructions, lots of details and photos) or with any order placed in October with the host code, or as always free to anyone on my team.

We are making this project at our Oct 14 event in Pittsfield – let me know if you are in by Oct 5 for the $30 price for 5 projects, and the Christmas Watercolor set.  If I get an RSVP after the 5th you’ll have to pay extra to cover expedited
shipping.

Happy stamping - MaryKate
