Paper Pumpkin Blog Hop Broadway Star

Welcome to the Paper Pumpkin Pop Up Blog Hop! We are all fans of this monthly crafting kit ($20 / month) and want to share with you our enthusiasm for this box of fun and creativity. The beauty of the Paper Pumpkin kit is that you can follow the directions provided in the kit to make the projects as they were designed, or use the supplies as a starting point and let your creativity run wild. On this "pop up" hop we will be sharing lots of ideas with you on how to use this June Paper Pumpkin kit.

I had fun creating this little collection of Hooray cards and gifts.  I think I’ll use it to send to my team who have achieved a milestone.
I really loved the design of the cards in the box!  But this is a hop on alternative cards J

I made the card fronts quite similar to the instructions. I cut one of the cards into 2 and then I created a base card 8 ½ x 5 ½.  So you have 2 pieces: the front 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 and the base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2.

Take the 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 base and score it 1 ¼ from the center to 1 ¼” down the center fold, do on both sides.  See the red dotted lines.
Now push the red lines in to make a "mountain", the top part of the blue line is the "ridge" of the mountain.

See how it folds into the center as a tiny “mountain”? This lets you now have a pop up element.

Adhere your cake or anything  that fits without going over the edge of the card (so it’s a surprise).  Stamp inside, add some balloons or sequins and you are done!

This works great for either horizontal cards or for vertical cards.  Super easy I hope you try it.

And in the "pop up" theme, a card with a pop up frame inside the card. My frame is empty but just perfect for a photo (or for stamping).

Take a base card (the full 8 1/2 x 5 1/2) and trim 1/2 off the back edge of the card so your base is now 8 x 5 1/2, and decorate the front.  I did a similar design as to the instructions for my front.

Now  take a whisper white base 8 ½ x 5 ½ and add some score lines so you have 3 scores:  ½, 4 ¼ and 4 ¾

Cut out a frame, I did a square for a photo but you could do a circle or an oval.  I used the stitched shapes and my Big Shot.  Now stamp on the front. I used Lovely Lipstick.

Mine does not have a photo but now is the time to insert it or to stamp on the inside.

Make your inside card into a box.

Line up the very edge of the back of the base card right into the fold of the card – adhere this down to the back of the base card.  Try this first without adhesive, so you can see it work.  Now adhere the ½” edge flap into the fold of the decorated card.  So now it will open and pop out.

And a little gift to match made by cutting down the card stock.  I'll post these dimensions tomorrow.. this post is getting way too long!  Please hop over and see what Debbi Green has for you (from here in Maine to California with Debbi, you are really seeing the country today!)

Waterfront Beach card

This is a fun stamp set just $17 and makes me feel like I can paint (I struggle with stick figures!)

Here's my beach card.

I did it in 2 sizes - a regular card and a notecard (3 1/2 x 5 finished).

I think the texture at the back with the Seaside embossing folder really adds to the look (that is 4 x 5 1/4 and my whisper white front card is 3 3/4 x 5 for the larger card and 2 3/4 x 4 1/4 for the smaller card.

Last week I did the lake scene, here's a link

We're playing with this set Friday June 29 10-12 (come and join us, RSVP for either the in-person class or email me MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com for a "to go" class which includes the set, ingredients and instructions for 4 cards, shipped to you for $25, US only). All you will need is ink and a block.

Abstract Impressions with Garden Impressions Paper

My challenge entry for this week

It's super simple but I think this paper makes it wow!

Here's the sketch.

The lower flowered paper is 3 3/4 x 2 3/4, the middle strip is 3 3/4 x 1/2 with a 1/4 strip on top (all from the matching Garden Impressions paper).

A greeting with a stitched shape, in the matching ink Melon Mambo.

I love bright fresh quick cards for summer - what are you crafting?

Delightfully detailed laser paper with a watercolor wash

Delightfully detailed laser cut paper - it's white on one side, vanilla on the other.  The left card uses the vanilla side, the right uses the white.

Watercolored cards 7 x 5 (or you can buy the cards with the wash)
Delightfully detailed paper is cut 5 x 3 ½ from this pack of paper (I have a video link below so you can see it).

A few tips for adhering the laser cut paper.  Put your glue on your pad in a swirl – not a blob as it will create a blobby gluey sponge – and then use a section of sponge to mop up the glue and then HOLD DOWN the laser paper in 1 place and dob your gluey sponge on the paper.  Don’t move your laser paper as you will get glue on the front (don’t ask how I know this!)

Then carefully stick down the gluey laser paper.
This flower was colored with a dauber.

What do you think?  I think as a quick first effort I like it but I’d really like to use the matching stamp set which is in my craft room, not where I am now!  So I’ll make a few more cards with this technique and post again.
It was fun to try!

Abstract Impression and Springtime Impressions

More "Mindy" cards - super quick easy and pretty (at Mindy's request!)

Love this butterfly from the Springtime Impressions

And the paper... Garden Impressions.  The card is 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 the designer paper is 3 x 4 and you choose a greeting.  Adhere the butterfly. Stamp inside.

All this card needs is a stamp and an envelope!

Rooted in Nature Zee Fold Card

This card uses the Rooted in Nature set with matching dies and the matching designer paper and embellishments.

Base is 11 x 4 ¼ scored at 2 ¾ and 5 ½
Designer paper is 2 x 3 ½
The Solid layer (Blackberry Bliss) is 2 ¼ x 3 ¾
I stamped the tree in Sahara Sand and die cut it out

Then you’ll see the tree is shiny, sort of like the sun is peeking through the leaves… I sponged on versamark, then embossed with clear embossing powder.

You’ll see I have a copper tree shadowing the tree, this is a half die cut of the tree.

I added these cute embellishments of the copper leaves and the matching twine.

I also did it in silver – I think the copper is nicer but both work!

This video produced by Stampin Up shows you a lot of great ideas with this set.  I’ll be posting more with it as well… don’t you see Christmas trees with this set??
