Happy Hallowe'en - Meet Esmeralda (with her paper Backpack)

Happy Halloween!  I made a backpack for my cute Esmeralda!  I created this pattern a few years ago and you can find all the how-to and dimensions by clicking here

The backpack is easy, it's really just a box with the flap (to close it), with a small box attached to the front (for the pocket holder). This pocket is the perfect size for a gift card.  By adding the cute straps, it's a backpack.

I love making handbags, boxes, treat packaging!

Join me on Facebook.com/SipCraftCare every Tuesday at 5pm ET for a live video with a paper project.  And the videos are always there so feel free to watch the replay :)

And I'll post the videos here as well.

Check you stash, use what you have, and if you need anything my online store is always open, thank you for shopping with me and supporting me. I so appreciate you!

Tam's goodie bag with Banner Year

Last Friday I posted a card I sent to welcome my sister-in-law home and mentioned her goodie bag!

Here's the bag, with a bit of decor.  It's quick and easy to decorate a bag and I used some Trimming the Town paper (4 pieces cut 2" wide or 1 1/2" wide by 3 1/2 to 4" long and trimmed with the banner punch).  This Trimming the Town paper has great patterns on the reverse side (see the snowflake pattern?)

I used the stamp set Banner Year (this set is getting a workout - it is so versatile across Christmas, Valentine's, Hallowe'en, Autumn)

And here's a link to the card for Tam click to see the card

I love packaging, even if it's just a simple bag with a little tag!  I put magazines, cookies, and other treats for her to help get through quarantine :)

Love this paper, it's on sale til Oct 31 at 15% off, click here to see the paper or shop

Trimming the Town - Hearts Come Home

My sister-in-law Tam is home! She was taking care of her new grandbabies and now they are grown enough for school and day care.

I dropped by with a welcome home goodie bag and made this card. I love the Trimming the Town paper and I thought this was a simple, perfect card for her treat bag.

Dimensions/tips: I used a notecard (finish at 5 x 3 1/2), Real Red 4 3/4 x 3 1/4 and the pattern paper is 4 1/2 x 3.  The Hearts Come Home was trimmed from the Designer paper! And a little bow from real red braided ribbon.

So excited to visit with her!

Happy crafting

Paper Pumpkin - a fun crafting kit

Paper Pumpkin is a fun, monthly crafting kit.  Each month you get a stamp set, inks, prepared projects that might be cards or packaging. You can subscribe or just buy 1 month. It's a nice gift to buy for yourself or buy for others.

The next kit is Jolly Gingerbread.  So cute! Your last day to subscribe is the 10th of the month.

The November kit contains enough supplies to create 15 gift card carriers. The kit’s contents can also be used to make traditional cards or gift tags. This kit allows you to customize your Christmas crafting!

I post alternative projects here on my blog (some I design, and many our team creates), it's so fun to have many talented demonstrators creating ideas for you (and it's a fun competition for them, where they can win Stampin Up goodies).

Here's a link if you wish to buy a single kit or a 3, 6 or 12 month subscription

Don't hesitate to ask any questions, my email is MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com

A Christmas Thank you

We just finished our Monday classes at the St. Martin's Episcopal Church. They have a lovely room and we were able to be 1 person at each 8' table for our classes!

I have a video for you showing you how to make this card with lots of tips Click here for the video

As a small thank you I offered to make their Christmas cards.  I love this set "For Unto Us" and I thought the catalog sample was stunning, I simply copied it!  I love looking through the catalog for inspiration whether it's a design or a color combination.

Anyway... these cards are simple but I hope they love them.  I think the tiny details make the card.  I used the brushed metallic foil, some gold glitter dots and the stitched shapes (my favorite dies) to make the card.  I love the gold embossing with the sentiment.  The trees are embossed with the Evergreen folder. You can see all of this on page 35 of the Mini Catalog.

My next class series is online, 4 Mondays 6-730pm, with the Whale Done set.  So you get the stamp set, 12 projects all cut/prepped, over 4 weeks, live or recorded, all delivered to your door (or pickup).  If you are a new stamper, you can add 3 spot inks and a block.  Class is $30 (pickup) add $8 for shipping and/or $8 for a block and inks.  email me MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com to register or for questions.  Last day to register is Sunday Oct 25! Class starts Nov 2.

Happy stamping, MaryKate

A fun fold that is so versatile!  Is it an arrow? with wings? or an envelope fold?

This one below is made by Laurie Wilbur and was my inspiration!

Here's a video that makes it super easy! Click here to see the 8 min video

Dimensions:  Base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, Fold in half to make it horizontal.

Take the top of the card and fold it to the right half of the card, again to the left.

Now measure 2" up (on the left and right sides of the top half of the base), fold to the mark.

Your patterned paper is 5 1/4 x 4.  Find the half way point (2 3/4") at the bottom (if you paper is directional) and cut from the top left to the bottom center and the top right corner to the bottom center.  You have a triangle for your front and 2 for the inside.  You make the inside triangle (for stamping) the same way.

So fun to decorate! What will you make?

If you are on our team, post your entry into our Facebook album to win a prize!

I used the Gleaming paper with the copper foil accents and my greeting was from Still Scenes (the snow globe set).

I hope you try this fun, simple fold!

Happy crafting, MaryKate

Tag with a Gift Card Holder using Tag Buffet tags

A quick and easy gift card holder.  I used the tags from the Buffet Tag kit for the 2 front layers and the die cut tree that was part of the kit.

I attached the holder to the back.

Cut a piece 4 x 3 1/2.  On the 4" side score at 3 1/2 and 3 3/4. On the 3 1/2 sides (both sides) score at 1/4, 1/2 from both sides.  See the photo.  Remove the 2 corners, fold up and attach the sides.

I punched a 2" circle in whisper white and used the Tag Buffet stamp set to stamp To and From in real red.

Be sure to take a circle punch and cut a half circle at the top of your holder to make it easy to get the gift card out.  Add the gold thread (part of the kit) and maybe hang it on your tree.

I hope you make one!  Also if you are local I have a half of a tag kit left over from class... let me know if you'd like it.  We had fun making cards with this fun kit, Click here to see the Tag-Buffet-Cards

Halloween sampler - a large card or fun decor with Goulish Goodies

Do send Halloween cards? I do .. but not so many! So I needed to create a project that was both a card and decor.  Here it is!

I used a larger Memories and More card that is 6 1/4 x 4 1/4 (so yes it needs a bit of extra postage).  I added a layer of Peacock 6 1/4 x 4 1/4, then a layer of the Black Glitter paper 6 x 4.  I'll give you directions for the "easel" at the end of this post.

I cut 5 pieces of patterned paper and 1 piece of cardstock 1 3/4 x 1 3/4

For each square I embossed a creature from the stamp set in silver embossing powder.  The last square is a piece 1 1/2 x 3/4 for my greeting.  Under the greeting is the Silver Metallic Mesh ribbon (about 4" folded 3 times).

For the blackberry square with the spider:  first emboss the spider, then put the square through the Cut and Emboss machine with the Cobweb 3D folder to create the web and then with a bit of white craft ink on a sponge, light brush over the web.  I bet a Smoky Slate grey would work too :)

My embossing folder and paper is from the suite "Magic in the Night".

The "easel" feature is made by cutting the back of your card just 1/4" from the bottom by about 2" on both sides.  On the front of your card make 2 tiny slits about 1/4" at the front bottom of the card.  Bring the back "legs" to the front and insert into the slit at the front. This really stands up well! Super easy and a fun effect for any card that you want to also be "decor".

All the supplies are in my online store (click on the shopping cart), but check your stash of Halloween paper and stamps, this sampler is very easy to create with many Halloween sets!  Use what you have, buy what you need! And using the host code will always get you free goodies.

I'll be updating my class list - but stay tuned for a fun 4 week Online class Nov 2, 9, 16, 23 6-730pm with the Whale.  $30 for the stamp set and projects. Add $8 for shipping and/or add $8 for a block and 2 spot inks. Perfect for experienced or new crafters. I'll close this class registration Sunday Oct 25. email me to register MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com.

Happy Halloween, MaryKate

Simple but stunning Autumn Tree with Fall Leaves

I used the versatile Life is Beautiful stamp set to make this classic fall tree.

I took a 3 3/4 x 5 piece of Vanilla, rounded the corners with the Trio punch.  I stamped the tree in Crumb Cake and then used 3 colors for the leaves:  Merlot, Pumpkin Pie and Bumblebee.

A few tips:  make sure there is space above the tree, it somehow looks better! When adding the leaves, stamp off the ink on a scrap piece of paper (sometimes call second generation stamping) so the color goes on lighter. You can easily add color by stamping more.

Don't forget your leaves on the ground!

I love the new embroidered ribbon (under the hello), about 7" and the ever versatile gold glitter dots add a little something.

When it was all finished I added the tree to the gold cards - di you see these on page 51 of the catalog (the Holiday catalog) I think they are a "hidden gem".  Love the matching gold envelopes.

I used this set a lot and I'll be posting more options with it this week and next! Don't forget our designer paper sale, I love our products and love them even more with a discount!

Easy Big Triangle Card in Ornate Garden

This is another quick fun card that has your patterned paper doing all the "hard work".

Here's a video if you'd like to see me make this (the card making is about 7 min and the rest of the 13 min video is tips on the Stamparatus, our stamp positioning tool. Click here to see the video

You take a full sheet of cardstock 8 1/2 x 11, score on the short side 4 1/4", on the long side 5 1/2 so you have 4 equal quadrants.

Cut this sheet down the middle on the diagonal. You now have 2 "big triangle bases".

Cut a piece of patterned paper 5 x 3 3/4 (or you can cut it 5 1/4 x 4 if you want less of the base showing), see my options below.

Make sure you slice the patterned paper on the diagonal considering which side you want showing, you can't simply turn over the piece as it won't fit.

Here's a very short video on making this card, showing this tip! Click here for the quick video

Add the patterned paper to the front.

Select a larger greeting and either punch it out or die cut the greeting. Add this to the front. Tip:  watch your adhesive and ensure you put it top right hand corner of the greeting to ensure the card opens :)

Stamp inside your card.  My card is made with Bumblee Bee cardstock (a deep yellow) so I added an inside piece of whisper white 5 x 3 3/4.  My ink choice matches the paper: Flirty Flamingo, Pear Pizzazz, Bumblebee.

This card can easily be turned to be a vertical card, here it is with a different greeting, from the same set.

The stamp set is #RidiculouslyAwesome - such a great set!

You can get the stamps, ink paper (SIP!) in my online store. Don't forget we have a pattern paper sale offering a 15% discount til the end of the month.

Let me know if you have questions MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com

A quick pouch for treats, gift cards, cookies and more

This is my team challenge this week:  make a pouch and fill it with goodies!

It's quick to make.  You make the stand and then add the front pieces to hold the treats.

Here's a short video to show you how to make it. Click here to see the video

The stand: Take a 12 x 4 piece of designer paper, score (on the long side) at 4 3/4, 9 1/2, 10 1/2, and 11 1/2.

Fold it up and use the last 1/2" fold to attach it together.  See the photos that show how it stands up due to the folds that fold into an upside V shape.

Now attach the front pieces so it can hold your goodies

The front flaps at 2x6, and scored (on the short side) at 1 1/2.  Fold down the 1/2 flap and attach this piece to the front.  The 1/2" flap is at the bottom so it can hold treats.  I just folded this 6" piece around the front and the added adhesive to the edges. I didn't score.

I added a flap to the front and back and my front holds my cocoa and my back holds my marshmallows in the mosaic bag with 3 x 2" of pattern paper folded in half. I added a silver plastic tasting spoon - available anywhere Amazon, $ store, Walmart, search for "tasting spoons".

I added the greeting "you're the marshmallows in my cocoa" from the Warm Hugs stamp set, along with the silver ribbon.  I stamped in Misty Moonlight.

My paper choice was Snowflake Wonder - available and on sale this month in my online store, by clicking on my shopping cart. Don't forget the host code as I send out thank you gifts directly to you using these benefits.

My team is creating their versions of the pouch and I'll post these ideas tomorrow.  So far I've seen pouches for Thanksgiving, for general treats, for a team event with "bling"... lots of clever ideas.

We have a fun team and love to challenge each other (and win bling!).  If you'd like to join us, you simply choose a starter kit (you choose items worth $125 and pay $99) and that's it, no further obligations.  You can stay with us, or drop if it doesn't work.  Most of us (maybe all?) joined so we can get a 20% or 25% discount on all our Stampin Up products.  It's a great time to join and save money on your holiday crafting - and enjoy our fun team events (in person and online). Email me with questions MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com I'm happy to answer your questions or chat about stamping or crafting!

Layered Triangle Cards - how to make 2 quick easy, very pretty cards

If you have patterned paper and cardstock in your stash you are set to quickly make 2 of these fun triangle cards.  I have a video and a recipe below for you.

Here's the recipe:

Patterned Paper 4 1/2 x 4 1/2

Matching cardstock or foil 4 1/2 x 4 1/2

Same matching cardstock or foil 3 x 3

Based card is 8 1/2 x 5 1/2

Ribbon and embellishments to match - I used 1/4" copper ribbon and punched out shapes from the patterned paper.

I made a super short video if you prefer visual instructions. Click here to see the video  and to see these projects in different paper/colors.

Cut the 3 squares into 2 down the center to make 2 triangles. Separate these into 2 piles for 2 cards.

Layer the 2 larger triangles so the matching cardstock peaks out the side.  Attach to the front of the card on the left, not perfectly centered.  Attach the smaller triangle on the left, again not centered.  Add embellishments.

This design was part of our team challenge where they create a card, post it on our team page and then a winner is drawn randomly - an early bird on Friday and a Monday evening drawing. So many fun ideas, for Christmas, Halloween, Birthday and more.

From our team...

From Diane Dutremble

Gail Boivin

Terry Dell' Amico

Adrianne Everhart

Ok... stop reading and head to your craft room and try out this fun fast card and send one away to make someone's day!

A Day without Chocolate

This card was made with a fun bundle ... Love you More than!  I think this fun card would appeal to many people.

And there are more chocolates inside too :)

I made a few notecards with this chocolate theme, you can click here to see a smaller card in a treat bag.

This card was made by my friend Judy Iervolino and I love how she used the in-color designer paper in Cinnamon Cider (the patterned paper with dots) and blends (our alcohol markers)  to color the chocolates. She used the Stitched So Sweetly dies for the scalloped rectangles, one of my most used bundles.

A customer recently purchased this bundle, and said, "I think we are all going to need some fun treats this school year and this is perfect"!  Thank you to all the teachers and staff that are doing an amazing job during these challenging times!

Let me know if you have questions, need anything, thank you for shopping with me!  To get to my online store, just click the shopping cart.

Beautiful Life - A Tree and a Moose for all Seasons

I love the Moose - you know I do!

Matching the Moose with the Beautiful Life tree stamp set is a winner.  Check out these fun cards below.

This one... the moose is popped on dimensionals and the leaves are floating. The Beautiful Life tree stamp set is a "distinktive" so it has the look of different layers. So pretty.  I used the add-on from the Paper Pumpkin in August for the base - but you could create this with sponging.

Below - 4 panels - each 1 1/4 wide x 4 high, with the different seasons highlights.  And the moose :)

This one (below) features our brushed foils - 6 sheets total, 2 of each foil (Gold, Copper and Champagne), 1 1/2 for each panel, run through the Stampin Cut & Emboss machine with the 3D Evergreen Embossing Folder, and add to the front of the card.
Check out the "snowy-ice" the Moose is walking on... it's the silver mesh ribbon :)
You can add many different greetings to this card.  So quick and easy and yet has such a wow factor with these brushed foils.

Thank you for stopping by. Be sure to "subscribe" to get my ideas sent right to your email. Lots of fun, easy stamping cards, packaging, decor and more. Paper crafting is so fun... it's just paper!

Let me know if you need anything... questions... email me MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com, or if you need crafting supplies such as the Moose or Beautiful Stamp Set or these foils, silver ribbon etc... my online store is always open.
