Hello Kit - a fun card kit

We had a fun time visiting and crafting with the Hello Kit! It's on page 6 in the Jan-June 2021 catalog.  We still have 1 more month with this catalog.

Here are a few samples for you.  I started by creating the kit using the instructions... then did a few variations.  The copper foil on the vellum is lovely as the matching copper twine is pretty.  I only added a few champagne rhinestones (I love a bit of bling!)

I like the smaller cards but I have more use when they are larger so I layered on a 3 x 5 piece, then a 3 1/4 x 5 1/4 layer in matching colors.  I trimmed my base to 7 x 5 1/2 folded in half.

I still used the matching envelopes - even though the card was a bit smaller, I thought it worked fine!

It's a fun kit and nice to craft together, visit, and spend less time sharing instructions and more time catching up.

(I'll be watching to see if this kit goes on sale in the last chance sale mid May as the catalog comes to end!)

More Snailed It cards

I did a video yesterday and last week with fun fold cards.  I showed several other snail cards that really don't need a video!  Here they are, I hope you make one!

You have 6 sheets of 6 x 6 paper, remove ¾” off 5 sheets taking the direction of the paper into consideration.  The 3/4 x 6 strips should show the pattern in the right direction. Now create the cards.

Project 1: You’ve got mail

Take the Yellow DSP and cut 5 ¼ x 2 ½

Coastal Cabana 5 ½ x 2 3/4

Project 2:  Happy Mail:  The Gate Fold Card

Take the Yellow DSP (now at 5 ¼ x 3 ½) cut in half to 1 ¾ x 5 ¼

Inside white piece is 5 ¼ x 4

Card 3 The Happy Mail Strip card

Base 8 ½ x 5 ½

Front white 5 1/4 x 4

5 pieces ¾ x 3 7/8 of DSP

Add DSP to front, add ribbon, add the postage stamp greeting.

Add white inside, stamp on this paper.

I love these cute snails... if you'd like the set of bundle with the dies or the paper, be sure to order these in April or May... they are retiring early June!

Snailed It Tag Pull Out Card, Cards that Move!

The Snail Tag card is easy (truly!) and super fun.

I love the "secret message" that pops out as you pull the tag.  This message could be "you snailed it" or happy birthday, or you are amazing, or thank you! A versatile card. I'm on FB Live today 6pm April 14 and I'll put a link to that video here. Facebook.com/SipCraftCare

Click here to see the video

Dimensions:

5-1/2" x 8-1/2" Card Base

3-1/2" x 4 1/4" Designer Series Paper (DSP)

2 x 5 ¾ Tag score at 1 ½ and 2” use tag topper for the top of the card

2 ½ x 2 ½ whisper white

“postage stamp” die in Coastal Cabana

1 ¾ x 2 whisper white for the “secret message”

Inside the card: designer paper 1 x 4

Outside the envelope designer paper 1 x 4 ¼

Stamp your greeting on the small white piece ensuring the greeting is parallel to the top which is 1 ¾ (and 2” long).

Take the DSP and create a hole with a punch or your trimmer that is 2” long and ¼” wide about 1” from the right side of the paper and about 1” from top and bottom of the DSP.

Insert your tag – it will be loose.

Add tear n tape along the score line that is ½ wide

Fold the tag closed, adhere the front embellishment (square with the snail) ensuring the left edge of the square is close to the edge of the tag.

Add the stamped “secret message” to the tag that is at the front of the card. Add a piece of tear tape to the back of this message and secure to the front.  The front flips, NOT the message part.

Tag is now secured ONLY with the front tear n tape below the message.

Put dimensionals on the back of the DSP top and bottom NOT middle and add to card front.

Stamp inside your card.

This is an easy card to make but instructions are much easier by video!

I hope you watch the video -- or don't hesitate to ask me questions! MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com

Team gathering - our crafting projects with Art Gallery Paper

I hosted a team event prior to our Stampin Up OnTour and provided a packet of goodies and some paper.  We each made 3 cards and a quick card holder. The theme was "classic" layouts where the patterned paper does the work for you!  Here's the projects and below I've put in the dimensions and some photo tips. I hope you make a set of cards!!

Spine card

Base 11 x 4 ¼ scored at 4 ½, 5 ½ 6 ¾

Solid base 4 x 4 and 1 x 4

DSP 3 7/8 x 3 7/8 and 7/8 x 7/8

Ribbon about 18”

Side opening card

Base 8 ½ x 5 ½ trim off 1” from front

DSP 5 ¼ x 3 ½, cut off ¾ off the side

Window card

Base 8 ½ x 5 ½

DSP 3 x 4 – cut into 3 1” strips

Solid base 3 1/8 x 4 1/8 x 3

Other card ideas – simple layers, base 8 ½ x 5 ½ with a solid layer 4 x 5 ¼ and DSP 3 7/8 x 5 1/8

Treat bag – 6 x 6 score at 2 ½ and 3 ½, rotate score at 1 and 5, fold up.

Card holder

Here’s a fun folder for you to make for your cards.

This card holder can easily hold 4 full size cards and 4 envelopes.  When selecting paper for this project, find heavier weight designer paper or use cardstock as I did.

Card Holder instructions

To make the card holder, cut the cardstock 8 ½ x 10 (or an A4 with 2.5cm removed from the long side) and on the 10” (or longer side for your A4) side score at 4 3/4, 12cm and 5 ¼ or 16cm. On the 8 ½ (or shorter A4 side) side score at 2 ¼ 5.5 cm and 2 ½ and 6cm    With the 1” 2.5cm piece left over, make the “gusset” pieces:  cut 2 pieces 1 x 2 ¾ (2.5cm x 6.5cm) and score each at 1 (2.5cm) and 1 ¼ (3cm).  Trim your holder (see the big X below on the left) and burnish your folds.

Add the 2 gussets, first to the bottom and then attach to the folder (so they won’t show).

Decorate the front with a stamped image on 4 ¼” x 5 ½” (or a ¼ sheet of A4) Wrap about 24” 60cm of ribbon around the front and tie in a bow, then add either a stamped image or the layered die cuts to the front about 5 ½ x 4 ¼ (1/4 sheet of A4) with a sentiment and maybe an embellishment.   Put your dimensionals at the top and the bottom of the front image so the ribbon runs freely.

I hope you make some cards. These were super easy as we wanted to visit vs learn new things!

We had such a fun time, it was online, and we are ready to be back in person, but we had so much fun.

Triple Fold Card - with a video! It looks hard but it's super easy!

Take a sheet of card stock 8 1/2 x 11 and trim off 1 x 11.  Then trim the piece to 5 1/2 x 11 - score this on the long side at 1 3/4, 5 1/2 and 9 3/4. Burnish the folds.  Click here for the video

Your 6 x 6 pattern paper -- remove 3/4 x 6 -- keep this for a card that I show you on the video!  Watch the video for the tip on direction of the pattern.

Trim this piece (now 5 1/4) to 1", 1 1/2, 3 1/2 and attach to the 3 folds.

Add a piece of white 5 1/4 x 4 to the middle (why not stamp something on this?)

Wrap the belly band around the card, secure it with strong adhesive.

Add the 2 "lovely labels" (I adore this punch, so versatile) and the die cut snail to the front, along with a greeting die cut from the paper!

It's really that easy!  A big thank you to a fellow demo Debbi Green who showed me how to make this!!
