Dragonfly Dreams with Aqua Painters and Watercolor pencils

Dragonfly Dreams is a versatile new set, so pretty.

I created some notecards, some in crumb cake and some in whisper white (do you have a preference)?  I think the white.. but like them both

I love both the big dragonfly and the set of flying small dragonflies.

For each of these cards I first used the watercolor pencils, just scribbled on the shimmer paper, then with my aqua painter blended the color and then for the other cards squeezed the ink into the lid and dipped in the aqua painter.

The dragonfly on the left is aquapainter and inks and on the right is the pencils, with water (you can just see the lines).    For the left dragonfly I added some of the gold thread (copper would be pretty too!).

My background color is wild wasabi.  And my dragonflies are in Wild  Wasabi as well.
Dimensions:
Notecards 7 x 10 folded
Shimmer paper 3 x 4 1/2, Wild Wasabi 3 1/4 x 4 3/4

Here are  the flying dragonflies.

I colored the paper with deeper color, let it dry and then cut out the dragonflies.  The set includes the stamp for the cute dots.  I found that stamping off (so it's a light shade) looked better as the dragonflies stood out more.

The greetings are from the same set - but the "celebrate" is from Beautiful You.

My friend Barbie hosted a party to make these cards and loves green (so the Wild Wasabi choice) and she had her group make the matching pouch.  I posted the instructions on how to make this pouch earlier in January (if you can't find it either search for "Beautiful You" or email me MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com), it takes a 7 1/2 x 12 and a few quick folds, and then add a dragonfly and belly band.

The pouch is easy and makes for a great package for a gift.

Dragonfly Dreams is a bundle and with every $50 purchase you choose a free Sale-A-Bration item!

Watermelon Wonder Watercolor Words and Heart Valentine

Hi - looking for a fun nugget holder?  This one holds 3 Hershey nuggets.  So many ways to decorate this little treat box.

Watermelon Wonder card stock is 3 x 7 ¼ Score at 1 3/8, 1 7/8, 3 ¼, 3 ¾, burnish the folds

Fold into a box to hold the nuggets on the left side of the card

Use sticky strip or tear-tape or strong adhesive on the last flap to secure the “open box” that holds the nuggets (see photo)

Stamp hearts - I used Watercolor Words set and matching watermelon wonder

Stamp and punch a greeting and punch with the heart punch (I used the Jan 2017 paper pumpkin stamps)

Insert the nuggets, tie 5/8 watermelon striped ribbon, secure ribbon with twine - can you see it peeking out? :)

Add a message on the back

More Sending Love Matchbooks

I’ve been going a little crazy making these cute matchbooks!  See my earlier post for dimensions (if you can't find it you can email me or use the search bar and put in "sending love").

I have a Valentine’s swap with my team (we have a lot of fun swapping) and this is my swap.

I love the fun embellishments and the dies that match.

This one is for my MIL – who loves all things Atkins.  I made this one a little bigger to hold the bigger treat.  So it’s 3 ¼ wide (not like the regular ones at 2 ¾).

I love this set Sending Love, the little envelopes are so fun.  Love the paper, really like this set J

Mom Tech Support - you did it - Congratulations.

I’m tech support for my mother (do any of you have this job!?)  Anyway she fixed her own TV and phone and internet connection and I’m so proud of her!!

She was so nervous to try it on her own and she did it!!

I had to send her a congratulations card, so I used her favorite colors Navy and White with the Floral phrases and Floral thinlets  J

Sale-A-Bration Pretty Pocket Card Kit

There are lots of great choices in this year’s Sale-A-Bration.  I love this one (right at the back of the book) Pretty Pocket Card Kit.  Some years (just being honest) I don’t love that many, but this year, I think I like all but 1 (yup, not the Dijon tin, just me, I guess)

I love this kit… I guess if you are a super experienced crafter and love the more complex cards, it might not be for you.  But I made 8 cards in about 10 minutes (maybe less) and can’t wait to send these off.

I still need to put the white twine and bow around each one – but I think this is a great option.

Remember for each $50 you spend, you choose an item from the SAB catalog (don’t have one? Feel free to email me MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com and I’ll get one out to you).

Do you have a favorite SAB item?

Birthday Blast set: card, box, tag and envelope

This was one of several class projects.

You can make a box or buy a box and then cover the front with a piece of designer paper.  My box is 10 ¾ x 7 ¾ and I cut a designer piece 10 x 7 with a layer 10 ½ x 7 1/2, and adhered to the box.  Cut a designer piece 2 x 5 ¾ for the back of the envelope.  Adhere to the back of the envelope and trim to fit.

The card: Whisper White 5 ½ x 8 ½ folded

Contrast piece (I used tempting turquoise) 4 ¼ x- 5 - cut the stars and the swirl out of this piece. Stamp your Happy Birthday greeting on the turquoise piece.  Adhere the stars and swirl. Place this piece on the folded card.  I used the greeting celebrate you and some of the stars for the inside of the card.

Second contrast piece (I used pumpkin pie), again, cut out the star and the swirl, this is to add to the box.  My piece is 4 x 3 so I have about 3/8 to fold over to attach to the box. I used tear and tape to adhere this piece to the box.
Wrap contrasting ribbon or trim around the box, I found about 30” was right.  I used the 1/8 grosgrain and there are lot of matching choices.

Create a tag 2 x 4 ¼ (or any length really).  Use the either the tag topper punch or the new tag die with the matching die that looks like ribbon (or a bouquet!).  Round the corners and add to the box.

Really a cute fun set !  Happy crafting - MaryKate

Quick Valentine's Treat with Sending Love paper and nuggets

At class on Sunday we made these quick treats.  It's nice to be able to make a lot of treats and these are super fast!

Here are the ingredients...

Designer paper 2 x 2 ½ and strips 3 x 1
2 x 8 cello treat bags
Hershey nuggets
1/8 real red grosgrain ribbon

Wrap the nuggets with the 3 x 1 paper
Insert the 2 x 2 ½ strip into the bag.
Insert the nuggets
Tie with a ribbon

Add a “handcrafted by “ heart tag on the back

As a class prize, I created a box and filled it with ingredients to make 4 of these treats.  Hope to see you at our next class Jan 24 6-8pm at Warsaw School in Pittsfield.

Lift me Up - a wonky card

In honor of my friend Angel I made this fun "wonky" card with the new Lift Me Up set and the free paper from the Sale-A-Bration.

"Wonky" as I turned the background slightly askew,  a trick from Angel :)

So fun and simple.  The key is color coordination. I used the navy, watermelon and peach colors from the paper in the stamps on the free background paper.  Love it!    I used the sentiment Love is in the Air but there are birthday and hello greetings, very versatile set.

During January through March for every $50 you spend you get a free Sale-A-Bration item. Let me know if you need a catalog or browse online in my online store (button on the top right of this page). Thanks for shopping with me.  Share in the host goodies!

Can’t wait to send these cards out.  I love getting snail mail!

Sunshine Love Wishes

This Sunshine Wishes from the annual catalog is a recurring favorite, I've used it so many times.

This time it's a Valentines card with the heart shape and love word.  So cute and easy.

I used a strip of whisper white with the heart stamp from Sending Love but I think some of the Red and White washi tape would be cute too - or a strip of paper from the new Sending Love paper.  Lots of options to vary this card!

We'll make this at class and I'll post all the different ways people create this card.  Class is Sunday Jan 15 2-4pm Hartland, let me know if you want to join us!

Sending Love in a Coffee Cup

I just created this card using my new stitched thinlets and Sending Love stamp set.  As soon as I saw that lipstick stain, I thought of my coffee cups!!

I put the card on my grid paper so you can see the size. It's a regular card size so easy to mail.

Do you love that little stitching edge?  So cute.

I'm not sure if I like the coffee sleeve in crumb cake or early espresso - any preferences?

We're making this at class (along with other Valentine and Birthday projects) Sunday Jan 15 2-4pm in Hartland ME.  Send me an email to join us MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com

I'm creating an instruction sheet so come back in a few days and I'll have it posted.

A quilt card in Navy Florals

Please be careful on the ice out there!  My friend and fellow crafter slipped and fell and broke her arm.  Ouch!  I sent this pieced-quilt card with a note "hope your arm gets pieced back together".
Love the navy floral.

Card is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded, the quilt pieces are 1" square and attached with dimensions.  The twine is the thin navy baker twine.

The envelope decoration is 5 1/2 x 2 adhered to our envelope and trimmed.  Easy way to decorate an envelope and I used up a small scrap!

Hope she gets better soon - stay warm! MaryKate

Mrs. Wade (of Newport ME Middle School) Letter to SipCraftCare

Hi crafters, I just received this note from Mrs. Wade. You may recall last October we supported Mrs. Wade's classroom and helped buy her the special projector that enables her students to share their work with the whole classroom.

What a special project and what a special group you are to support this project.  Here's the letter... thank you! MaryKate

Sending Love Matchbook M&M or Gift Card Holder

These are fun to make several of at once, super quick and easy!

These matchbooks hold a "fun size" of M&M's or a gift card (or quite a lot of other treats.  I've used the new Sending Love stamps and paper.

It's a bit hard sometimes to see how big something is, so here it is with the fun size M&Ms (I got 28 for $5 at my local grocery store).

Real Red 8 ¼ x 11 (to make 4)
With 8 ¼ on top, score at 3 ¼, 3 ½, 7 ¼
Cut into 4 sections at the 2 ¾ (so each one is 2 ¾ x 8 ¼
Now you have 4 matchbooks.

Fold on the score lines.

You can staple your item into the matchbook, or staple your matchbook closed and then add in the item.  The staple is close (but not too close to the bottom) so the designer paper hides the staple.

You’ll see that I staple with the smooth side to the back, as I cover the front with paper.

Decorate the front with the matching paper that is cut 2 ½ square and ¾ x 2 ½ , or you could stamp images instead of using the paper.  Decorate the paper with the heart embellishment that you stamped and cut out – so many cute choices with the die set Love Notes!

I think the bundle is a really great deal, it's $45.75 and if you add the matching paper or  something else small, you'll be at $50 and then you can choose one of the new Sale-A-Bration items.  Lots of nice things this year!   If you shop with our host code (see top right of this page), proceeds support our school projects and you share in the host goodies.  This month I mailed a paper share of this cute Sending Love paper and a share of the 2 new matching ribbons.

My Swap Card for Occasions Catalog 2017

I fell in love with this set the moment I won it at OnStage (gathering of SU demonstrators) last fall.  Simple, pretty, easy and great to make multiple cards and it is my swap for this new catalog!!!

There are 3 ladies in this set – I picked the one that I thought was dancing in the rain, splashing up the rain puddle!

My layers were pool party and calypso coral.  Inside I stamped the sentiment… celebrate.. Life looks beautiful on you!

I added some of the sprinkles that are supposed to go with the Cool Treats set (stay tuned)!

I loved the fresh simple look of this card.. And the sentiment won me over.

We are using this set at class January 7 in Hartland and Online Live (yes live, not a pre-recorded video) on January 26 – sign up and play with this set.
