Pantone's Color of the Year 2021

Each year the color "experts" release the color of the year -- and check out this coming year's colors!!

Illuminating (Yellow) with Ultimate Grey

If you are interested you can read more here and also see the other colors of the past years.  Click here to read the details on their thinking.

I might try and play with this combination!  I think it's really close to our  Daffodil Delight and Basic Grey!  Hmmm... this might make a fun team challenge for January ... I'm so grateful to have such a fun, engaged team that is always up for color or stamping challenge. I love the fun we have!

Paper crafting Christmas tree ornaments

I thought I'd show you my Christmas tree ornaments! It's a bit of a "walk down memory lane" with all the different paper ornaments I've made over the years!

The one above is new this year, just released by Stampin Up!

Warning... we don't do designer style tree decorating here, just family ornaments, collected over the years ;)

Tag Buffet Kit from 2020

From my amazing team leader Cathy Jones, to celebrate my gold promotion!

Moose ornaments, little house from Dec 15 and a treat box

Do you remember these cute Cookie Cutter Creatures?

The cardinal from Tag Buffet

stunning poinsettia from Laurie Wilber (it was on my Secret Sister package)

Treat box from earlier this month

Wine tag/Gift card holder from Susan Morrison

More cookie cutter creatures

Another poinsettia from Laurie Wilber - wow with the foil!

Any symmetrical punch can be made into a 3D item, this is the Gleaming punch

The Christmas stocking die from last year and to the left the big triangle box I made Dec 15 on video

Ok ... that's it for now!  What are you decorating for the holidays? a tree? a wreath? your front door?

Happy decorating, enjoy the holidays, MaryKate

Wrap it - box it - make your own paper packaging!

I have 2 fun boxes for you today! A smaller Trimming the Town Gift box that looks like a village!! And a larger triangle box. I'm creating a video and will put a link in here!

click here to see the video

Trimming the Town box

3 1/4 x 8

Score on the long side 1 3/4, 2 1/2, 5 1/2 6 1/4

Score on the short side 3/4, 2 1/2

See the video for cutting and punching

Close with about 12" of ribbon

Decorate with houses from the Town paper.

Thank you to Simone Bartram in Australia, a fellow IDEAS demonstrator who created this!

And the triangle box -- so big!  I used a piece of patterned paper 6 x 12, fold in half along the long side. Then find the middle on the short side and score from the middle to the fold you just made. Do this 4 times.  Super easy and quick.

Here's a diagram. The dashes are score lines.  The video makes it easy!

Happy wrapping! Happy Holidays, MaryKate

Sweet Ice-Cream Sunshine Stamp a long

I belong to the Sunshine Demonstrator group in Florida.  Yesterday I was part of a Stamp a long where we craft and create together! I presented on the ice-cream bundle that will be available Jan 5th 2021.

Here are my projects and recipes: I started by making 2 "triangle" cards.   DSP is Designer Series Paper or patterned paper.

DSP:  4 ½ x 4 ½

Foil:  4 ½ x 4 ½

Foil:  3 x 3

Take these 3 pieces of paper and cut diagonally into 2 triangles.  Put 1 of each triangle into a pile and then create the card with these 3 triangles.  Put the pattern paper over the foil leaving 1/8" of foil showing. Layer the triangles on the card. Add an embellishment such as an ice cream cone!

Some close up's of these cards. This is a flexible design and you can put any shape in the middle of the card.

And then we made a matching triangle box
Pattern Paper 3 x 6
Fold in half so it's a 3 x 3, then score a line (or pinch and fold) from the top middle to the side, below is a diagram.

The diagram shows the score lines of the 3 x 6 paper.

Then I showed several other ice-cream projects, another triangle card with the new patterned paper and the new Sahara Sand foil.

A pop up card!
Front: DSP 5 1/4 x 4 and Bermuda Bay 5 3/8 x 4 1/8
Greeting is 1x3 with 10" of ribbon
Inside card is 1/16 smaller than your base and the pop up is made by scoring a "vee" at the top (1 1/4 down and 1 1/4" to each side of center).  Here's a link that shows you a diagram. Click here for the post with the diagram

These are "reminder" notes.  The tags are 2 x 3 and punched with the tag topper punch. I added an ice cream with sprinkles and ribbon. They are an easy thing to hand out when people ask for my contact details as I have my name blog stamped on the back.

This is a slider for a gift card.
Cardstock 5 1/2 wide x 3 1/2 long
Score at 2 1/4, 2 1/2, 4 3/4, 5
Burnish your folds
Punch a hole through both front, thread a ribbon through the front and the back, push the card in, pushing the ribbon down. Tie the ribbon in a knot or bow and add 2 x 3 1/4 of pattern paper.

I had fun stamping with a great group of demos!

Demonstrator Connections & Training Event

I appreciate that so many Stampin Up demonstrators have subscribed to my blog! I'm honored!

I'm hosting a "Demonstrator Connections & Training Event" online Jan 8 or Jan 9 (same program, 2 date options) from 12-430pm EST.

If you are a demonstrator - I'd love to have you join me!  You'll meet and network with lots of demonstrators from coast to coast!

Below are the details.  These are live (and recorded) sessions and you'll meet other demonstrators in small breakout groups. It's a great way to start your Stampin Up new year!

Not a demonstrator?  I'd love to have you join our group!  This event would be a great way to "try it out"!  We all join for the discount (we love our 20-25% off all Stampin Up products!) but stay for the fun, friendships, and crafting comradery!  The kit is $99, you select $125 of any product you want, and then you have 6 months to enjoy your experience. If you wish you can either purchase $300 of products each quarter, or simply drop, no obligations.  email me and I'll answer all your questions! MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com

Details on the event

Jan 8 or 9th, 3 crafting sessions (9 projects) a stamp set, blender, prizes and 2 training sessions about managing your Stampin Up account or business online. (We are pretty good at in-person but for a few more months it looks like online will be our venue, so let's get good at it!) $45 including shipping to your door.

Come and craft, network, meet demos and hear new ideas on creating and hosting successful online classes.  Training on increasing sales, finding customers, creating new workshop or class formats and engaging your team (even if your team is 1 or 2 or many people!)  We have created 3 crafting sessions with 9 projects prepped for you with fun folds, 3D, cards, coloring, and more. We will have 2 training sessions with an agenda designed for business and hobby demonstrators

What a great way to meet other demo’s, enjoy crafting, get 9 projects that you can use for your classes. It’s online and live – but will be recorded so you can go back and watch anytime.

We will also host a live technology “how-to” class with live Q&A, Monday Jan 11 6pm-7pm EST and share how to Zoom to Facebook, how to create great FB Lives, setting up online classes, and answer your questions!  It will be fun and give you lots of new ideas specific to your stamping business in an online world.  We can’t wait to be in-person, but let’s all be the best we can be online (while we have to!)

Our team has hosted many online demonstrator connection events where we gather, stamp, craft, share training.  There's such a fun vibe when we get together and we learn so much from each other.

Survey responses from our Sept 2020 online event:

Q:  Would you recommend this event to other demos?  94% said yes, 6% maybe: comments from participants:

YES! I would want to do this again -- as long as the format, organization, and presenters were top-notch -- like this one.

I LOVE the online training tips. I am testing out what I learned and so far its going well. Thank you again for all your hard work on this event.

Excellent event with the right balance between crafting and training. It was very professional and well executed.

wow, it made me realize just how good an online event could be! Lots of small details, prep, project selection and tech tips made it better than I expected

email me MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com and I'll send you a flyer with more details!

Tag Buffet Card Kit and Bottle Tag Gift card holder

Hi  -- I did a short video on the tag buffet cards (the kit is for 30 tags) but I made them into cards. A fun easy way to create some holiday cards.  Any set will work and the tag kit is on sale at 50% off! Here's a short video on the tag cards and also includes a gift card holder that doubles as a bottle tag!

I posted about these cards on Sept 12 - but given the sale - I thought I'd repost!  You can search "tag buffet" to see the original post.

There are really 2 sales... the "close-out" sale where many items are 50% off and the 2nd "sale" is the retiring list. Once these items are gone, they are gone!  Maybe a little present for yourself under your Christmas tree?

Make a paper mug with Stampin UP supplies: Banner Year and Gleaming Paper

It's gift card holder week - every day a new way to "wrap" a gift card.

Here's a video link to show you how to make this! click here for the video

Let’s make a mug! It’s a large mug that holds a bag of candy or hot chocolate or a gift card.

Cut your mug from 6 x 9 ½

Score on the long side at 1 ½, 3, 4 ½ 6, 7 ½, 9;

Score along the short side at ¾  (the top of the mug) and 1 ½ for the bottom of the mug.

If you want your mug to be shorter score the top lower eg at 1 or 1 ¼

Trim the side tab – this is the ½”  edge – trim off both the top and bottom squares, miter the edge

Burnish the folds, add the dsp cut 3 ½ x 1 ¼ to only 5 sides one side will not (yet) have DSP.

Cut the tabs at the bottom (no need to miter).

Fold down the top “cuff”

Put tear n tape along the ½ side tab and the fit the tab into the on to the mug to make it a hexagon.

Now turn your mug upside down, and adhere all the tabs putting a bit of liquid glue on each tab. Hold the mug carefully to ensure it dries nice and evenly (no wonky mugs!)

Cover the bottom with a 1 ½ or 2” circle (to look nice, not essential) stamping to / from on the circle.

Handle: cut ¾  x 6  and fold over the ends at ¼”

Curl your handle with a bone folder.

Take your last piece of dsp and attach the handle ends to the dsp (so the ends of the handle are hidden behind the dsp.  Now attach the dsp to the mug (use strong adhesive).

This is where you attach the handle to the dsp and then add this to mug so now you have 2 covered panels.

Your mug just needs decorating and filling.          I added a greeting from the Beautiful Banner set with the 2 heart punches.  I used a 3 x 6 cello bag for my mug cake, with 14” of ribbon – you can fill with hot chocolate, candy, a gift card, anything!

Do you need the pdf of the logos for the Dunkin Donuts mugs? Just email me MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com

I hope you make one!

Happy crafting MaryKate
