Mini Coffee Cups with Hello You Thinlets

As the school years ends (hooray for summer!) I'll be posting some ideas on fun gifts, easy gift card holders and matching cards... so great to say thank you to all the teachers, support staff and others who do so much extra all year long.

Ok .. who doesn't love coffee, hot chocolate or cold drinks from your favorite coffee spot?

You can make these into a Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, Tim Horton or other themes!

Sometimes it's hard to see size in photos.. so I've propped up a gift card so you can see the size (super cute mini size:)

You can fill these cups with candy, chocolate and marshmellows... and then why not insert a gift card along the edge... a fun easy personal gift to say thank you to anyone.

We have 2 classes for the coffee cups (and there are 2 other projects along with this coffee set).

The classes will use these thinlets so you can use hello, or thanks, or happy (and add birthday)

Tuesday May 16 at Warsaw 6-730pm and Sunday May 21 in Hartland.  Classes are nearly full... so please RSVP and if we need to I can add an extra class!

Happy crafting MaryKate

Thank you Lori - you are an amazing Robotics teacher

Teachers do a lot outside the classroom (I know that's not news!).

Our own crafter Lori, teacher at Warsaw, coach of the Robotics team for grades 5-8, is taking them to a State competition.  Super impressive they are at this level!!

So we (our SipCraftCare crafters) raised the money to send her team to the competition.. what a great cause to raise money for!!  Good luck Robotics team!!!

Thank you Lori for all you do.

Like the card?  We all did too.. we each made 3 different "You're the Best" cards at class on Saturday and paired it with an "Audrey" handbag.

Sara's Paper Pumpkin April 2017 cards... for our Saturday class

This Saturday we are making elegant handbags and filling them with cards.  There are 2 card options, one is with the set Beautiful You (search "beautiful you" in the search bar to see prior cards we made) and one is with the Paper Pumpkin set designed by Stampin Up CEO Sara Douglas.

Here's an example of one of the cards from Sara's set - this is made by Kelley Holmes - from our crafting group.  Such a pretty card, thank you for the lovely note Kelley!

And here's a whole set made by another crafter Mary Deatherage from the same set.

So... we'll make a bag and 3-4 cards ..and I'll post our creations on Monday!

Class is full for this Saturday, check out events/workshops tabs for other classes and join us for a fun crafting experience!

High Tide Cards

I'm so happy this set High Tide is carrying to the new catalog.  We made 2 cards to match our LL Bean Bags last Saturday and I was asked to post the card instructions.  Here they are!

The Red Lighthouse card
Base card 8 ½ x 5 ½ folded, red layer 5 ¼ x 4, vanilla 3 ¾ x 5
This is a 2 step stamp, one stamp on top of the other
1.Stamp the shadow of the lighthouse in smokey slate
2.Stamp the body of the lighthouse in real red
3.Cut this out

4.On the card, stamp the sand with crumb cake
5.Stamp the greeting with crumb cake
6.Stamp the waves, I used pool party but I stamped off for a lighter color, I think soft sky would be a good color too.
7.Add a little bit of dazzling diamonds on the ocean waves with the fine tip glue pen
8.Adhere the lighthouse with dimensionals
9.Add a rhinestone for the light in the lighthouse

The Crumb Cake Lighthouse

Base card 8 ½ x 5 ½ folded, mint macaron 5 ¼ x 4, whisper white 3 ¾ x 5
1.Stamp the sand with crumb cake
2.Stamp the shadow of the lighthouse in crumb cake – lining up the lighthouse to fit into the sand (just 1 lighthouse)
3.Stamp the greeting with crumb cake
4.Stamp the waves, I used mint macaron but I stamped off for a lighter color
5.Add a little bit of dazzling diamonds on the ocean waves with the fine tip glue pen – let it dry for a good 30 min

Come and join us for class in Hartland or Pittsfield. Details on the events tab.

If you'd like this set, let me know and I'll add it to our order.  Our profits are going to the Warsaw Robotics team this month so purchasing this set, supports their team competition

And don't forget the retiring list of stamps, paper, ribbons, and embellishments is out.. if you have a favorite, order it very soon... things sell quickly.  And don't forget to check out clearance!

Color Challenge Beautiful You

We have a weekly challenge.. either colors (and you can make anything) or a sketch.  This week was fabulous as I love Melon Mambo and Basic Black

And I had to use the Beautiful You set.. so happy it's in the new catalog!

I stamped her out and then stamped again on the designer paper, and cut out her dress and hat.   And with a little piece left over, I thought I'd decorate the envelope.  Super simple but I love it!  I used our notecards (3 1/2 x 5) with the mambo layer cut at 3 1/4 x 4 3/4 and the card at 3 x 4 1/2.

Don't forget ... lots of things are retiring and on sale, so check out the store!

Happy crafting everyone, MaryKate

The Fruit Crate - no die required

A crate to hold fruit (or fruit flavored candy!)   There’s a photo of a fruit crate in the annual catalog on page 127 which I copied!   And in the new catalog there's a cute die to make a small crate - but here's the how to (no die needed!)

The crate is 8 ½ x 3 scored at 2 ¼ from each end, punch the ends with the Classic Label Punch.  I cut it all out and used the wood stamp from Timeless Textures all over the crate and crate pieces.

For the crate side pieces I cut a piece 4 x 5, scored at ½ from each side (the 5” side) and stamped, added 2 strips of sticky strip and then cut it into 4 1” strips for the sides of the crate.  You can sponge the edges of your crate pieces if you wish.    I added a piece of the fruit designer paper (2 ¾ square on top of a doily).

I used a medium cello bag and put a piece of thick whisper white cut 2 ¾ x 2 at the bottom of the cello bag to keep it flat.  I then filled it with red skittles.  With a solid cardstock (I used Emerald Envy cut 3 x 2 ½ folded in half) I covered the opening, stapled it closed and then put the top piece of designer paper cut 2 ¾ x 1 on the Emerald Envy.

The card 3 ½ x 5 has the matching designer paper layered on top of Emerald Envy (3 ¼ x 4 3/4) on a notecard with DSP 3 x 4 x ½   My mom doesn’t like words on the outside… so I put them on the inside!

If you click on the tab on projects and free stuff you can download a 1 pager of instructions

Happy Crafting (and if you shop this month, you'll be supporting the Warsaw Middle School's Robotics team - please include the host code so you get your share of the free stuff!!)

A bow maker - thank you Joe P

At our last class I demonstrated how this gadget makes pretty bows, every time, super easy!

You simply wrap the ribbon around the dowels, tie a knot and it's a bow.  I'll take photos of how to, but it's easy!

Joe P has made us each one (and he and I wondered if you might like to buy and it donate the $5 price to our Warsaw Robotics Team Challenge)?

I'll make some instruction sheets and I'll demonstrate this at class April 11 at Warsaw.  Thank you Joe P.  We appreciate you!!

Onstage Swap - an updated LL Bean Bag and High Tide Lighthouse Card

Twice a year our stamping team gets together to see the new product line, get training, ideas for classes and to have a great time together.

A big part of getting together is swapping.  This event there are just 10 of meetings so we made our swap a little more interesting and the task was to make a card and 3D matching set.  And I figured it had to say something about the stamper.

So I made an updated LL Bean Bag and a High Tide Lighthouse card that I hope looks like the West Quoddy Lighthouse - the most eastern part of the US and of course it's in Maine.  And since we are meeting in San Diego I really felt I had to bring something "Maine" with me.   (I hope I win the award for the person who travels the farthest!)

Here's a close up of the card with a little rhinestone for the lighthouse light.

I'll be having a class Saturday April 15 in Hartland where we will make the bag, this card, another lighthouse card and we'll stamp on tiles.  We're nearly full so if you'd like a place, let me know.  You must RSVP as I cut cardstock, order time and supplies.

I'll post instructions for the bag after class on April 15 -- and I'll be posting photos of all the items I receive in the swap.

Betty thank you so much for this pretty card... you really made my day! I love crafting with you!

And... if you love the Jars set (and who doesn't), we are using this set in April and May with some fun new projects... here's a sneak peek (designed by Becky Roberts), combining a gift and a card!

And some other Jar of Love projects that we have done.. (and yes this will be in next year's catalog, so happy!)

And I love that this set can be modern...

or just classically lovely!

Happy crafting (and if you'd like any instruction sheets for these cards, most if not all are in the Projects/Ideas tab)
