Bag Tags for our Demonstrator Connections Event

Several of you asked about the tags and packaging I used for our Demo Connections Event Sept 21.

Here are the bag tags.

I used the sentiment from the Above the Clouds and put this sentiment in a 1 1/2" circle and then attached it to the designer paper (Perfectly Plaid) with some leaves. That leaf punch gets a real workout from me!

By putting the circle on with dimensions, there is the perfect amount of room to slip the leaves in under the circle.

The red (I used both Real Red and Cherry Cobbler) is 2" wide (to fit perfectly into the banner punch).

There is no real magic in deciding what to put on the bag (once I choose a sentiment for the bags and gifts) other than I look at what designer paper is left, check my scrap bins for the matching colors and then use the banner punch to flag the ends of the paper!

I'm making up some more bags for our Oct 5 Bingo event and I'll be sure to post them here.

I love big events and I think we'll host this demonstrator connections event twice a year -given the very positive feedback we got for our September event. Stay tuned!

Plaid Christmas Tree "negative"

There are so many ways to use the negative of your dies or your punches.

This card is a card and a tag.

The whisper white is 4 x 2 3/4, you punch out the tree. If you want to be sure that you punch it exactly where you want to then punch a tree from a post it, stick the post-it-tree to the white and then punch on top of the post it tree.

Stamp Merry Christmas from the Perfectly Plaid set, and the Swirl from the Merry Christmas to All stamp set (or a swirl from any set really) I used Spruce and Cherry Cobbler.

Attach the white to plaid 4 3/4 x 2 3/4, with dimensions.

Attach this to a layer of Spruce card stock that is 5 x 3 3/4 and the base is 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 folded.

Use the left over tree with another white punched tree dimensions together with a bit of twine and voila you have a tag!

Don't forget to stamp your envelope!

A new Paper Trimmer - this is on my wish list!

We have a new paper trimmer coming - with sharper blades and easier to read measurements.

Here's a fun 40 second video to give you a preview.

I'll be ordering it tomorrow Oct 1 and we can all have a play with it and give our "tell-it-like-it-is" product reviews.

I'll be submitting my order super early Oct 1st so let me know by email MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com if there's anything you need (and yes I'm splurging for fast shipping!)

Perfectly Plaid Swap card and my card in Frost

I received this great swap card from Sheryl Knight. I love it! Sheryl's is on the left.

So we are making this card in class Sept 30.

You can make it just like Sheryl did  -- with the Snowman paper -- or my version with the Frost paper.

Card base is 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 folded.  The base layer (Sheryl's is Real Red, mine is Seaside Spray) is 5 1/4 x 4 and the designer paper (Snowman or Frost) is 5 x 3 3/4.

Cut the matching layered circle from the base layer (the hole will be hidden).  Die cut the largest stitched circle.

Stamp your first tree, then stamp and punch your 2nd and 3rd trees.

Sheryl's colors are Real Red, Coastal Cabana and Granny Apple Green!
Mine are Seaside Spray and Granny Apple Green.

The Merry Christmas greeting is cut from the Snow Globe base (for mine) or the stitched rectangle for Sheryl's.

Which will you make? Or both?

Perfectly Plaid Card and Gift Card holder

My friend wanted a card to look like a gift and hold a gift card for a co-worker gift exchange.

This is a fast easy card to make.

It's a base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 folded, then remove 1 1/4 from the bottom of the card so it's now 7 1/4. Fold the card.

Whisper White inside is 5 1/4 x 4 with the Merry Christmas stamp.

Decorate the front with a layer of Whisper White 5 1/4 x 2 3/4 and the plaid is 5 x 2 1/2.

Make the belly band from 12 x 1 and run through the Big Shot with the subtle folder - just a little bit of texture.  If you have only 11" paper, that's ok, you can cover the join with the circles and the tree. Wrap the belly band and stick together.

Add the circles - gold 2 1/4 and white 2 - and the stamp the tree in spruce and punch out.  Add to the belly band. Add a gold star or sequin if you wish to the top of the tree.

Inside you can make a gift card holder -my real red is 4 1/4 x 2 and the plaid is 4 x 1 3/4 - glue these together, punch out a half circle with a 1, 3/4 or 1 1/8 - whatever you have! Add to the inside of the card tear n tape.

It's bright, pretty and looks like gift and a card!

So Many Stars

So many stars - the name of this great bundle and for all the crafters on Carol's team.

Here is Carol's stunning card with the matching envelope.  I was at her team event last night and all the ladies signed this card with such lovely messages.

Here's the bundle - perfect for Carol Mitchell-Cusick who is in West Gardiner Maine - as her team is called the Stars.

A few close ups so can see her design.

I love her use of the foil elements.

And can you see the texture on the card?  It's the subtle embossing folder, we'll be using this a lot at our Oct 5 class and during other classes. It almost makes paper look like fabric!

And the nested dies.

The color combination of copper and Pretty Peacock is really wow!!

It was such a pleasure to be at Carol's meeting.  The friendships we strike up as part of this Stampin Up business are really special.  I look forward to staying in touch.

If you'd like this bundle or anything else, please drop by my online store, and this month please expect an extra special present as a thank you (it's been a big month with catalog release, and I'll be sharing some nice goodies with you!)

Happy stamping, happy friendships

A Forever Lovely Thank you note

I received this thank you from my team leader - so pretty and so simple.

It uses the Forever Lovely set which was released as a Valentine's set.  It's perfect for a Thank You.

It's a 2 step stamp so you can see that she stamped the outline, then second she stamped the color of the flowers and then the leaves as all the stamps easily align.

I love the color choice of Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape and Granny Apple Green!

Lovely!

I've updated the class / workshop list with some new classes -- and for those of you local, I'll be away during the middle of October so we have a lull in classes (darn my busy work schedule!)

Wicked Halloween Crafting Fun

Hi all... sorry it's been a few days since I posted, very busy getting ready for the Big Event Sept 21st Demonstrator Connections!

Last night we had our first Adult Ed this school year and we created several Halloween items. The first is a card, it's on the left and it's both a card and a bit of decor.  I'll post a tutorial with close up photos tomorrow.

We decorated the lanterns, with the cat punch and the bat punch (from Every Season) with a little glimmer paper as well.

You add a tea light and it's a fun decoration for your desk.

These lanterns can be found at PaperLantern.com, search for 4.75" lantern. They were $2 several years ago and I had some left over from a long ago project (does that happen to you?!) now they are $3.16 each which is still a good deal.

We made some treat packaging and created these coffins. The coffins are pre-cut, prescored and you just glue them together and fill with treats.  Everyone did something a little different including some fun shimmer paint options with the shimmer paint and spritzer.

Tomorrow I'll post the pop up card that everyone said looked hard and was super easy!

Happy crafting, MaryKate

PS if you want the fun paper Monster Bash used in these projects, card stock, the WICKED dies, or the coffins, they are all in my online store, just click the shopping cart.  Add the host code and you get a free item in October. The September free item was Holiday Rhinestones! Happy shopping!

Cup of Cheer Happy Birthday card

I'm making fall birthday and thank you cards.

I create a background of leaves using the Every Season stamp set on whisper white cut 4 x 5 1/4.

I stamped the mugs - the stamp is reversible!  Cut them out with the matching dies.  Then layered them on a stitched rectangle 4 3/8 x 3.  The Melon Mambo layer is just 1/8 larger so 4 1/2 x 3 1/8.  Just a peek of the pink to match the thin lines of the stamp.

The mugs are on dimensions to make them pop.  The happy birthday is from the very popular and versatile Cake Builder set.

This would be a great thank you.. and we will make this at class tomorrow Sept 8, and I think I'll make it a thank you and have a gift card insert. I'll take a picture and post it here!

Stamp sets used include the Cup of Christmas (yes I made it fall.. stay tuned it will be Christmassy later!) and the Every Season for the leaves.  You can buy these in my online Stampin Up store, just click the shopping cart. Don't forget the host code so you can be part of the free product share!

Merry Moose Class Sept 23 Warsaw

So happy our classes at Adult Ed at Warsaw are back!

Sept 16 is our first class - Halloween themed - and Sept 23 is the Moose!! I love this Moose!!

At the Moose class we will make a card, a tag, do some stenciling and make a bag of Moose candy. It could be Moose Munch or Moose Poop (both options available).

Monday evening classes are 5-630 and include 3 projects,  a little simpler projects, perfect to come and try out stamping and it's just $5.  Come and hang out with a great group of fun crafters.

This card is so great, I love the sprinkle of snow on the card (can you see it over the trees?)

And the moose's scarf... he looks ready for Christmas. You will love all the options for the plaid paper (with the little gold stripe) that matches the gold foil background.

RSVP is essential... you must email me MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com to secure your space and ensure I have all supplies cut and ready for you.

Yes this class includes the Moose candy that you put in the bag!
