Day 2 of 13 Spooky Halloween Projects - The Owl Tombstone Card

Day 2 of the 13 Spooky Days of Halloween is a pop up card – flat when you mail it – and then the recipient pushes the edges down and it’s a desk decoration that might look like a tombstone or a forest scene.   This was my swap for my team – I hope they liked it.

I don’t usually send too many Halloween cards (some to my regulars) but not so many.  For me I like making Hallowe’en décor, packaging, treats, and more. I  like that this project is a card and décor.

Make the flat card 3 1/4 x 5

Cut out the 3 x 3 piece of the tree and moon from the designer paper, stamp on the owl.  Adhere to the black flat card – but make sure it’s near the top as the bottom is held up by the box.

Cut the Basic Black paper 11 x 4 1/4 score at 1, 2 ¾, 3 ¾, 5 ½, 7 ¼, 8 ¼ and 10

Burnish the folds

With your trimmer make a slit in the paper at 5 ½” (about 4” long)  and then insert the card into this slit to make sure it fits.

You may have to do a second trim - you'll only need to remove about 1/16 of an inch.  See photo below.

Once the card is inserted, adhere it to the bottom edge of the box. Then fold up the box and secure the back layer to the front.  Below you'll how I'm adhering the card to the lower edge of the box.

Burnish the folds.

Stamp the greeting on a 4 x ½ piece of Very Vanilla and flag the ends. Attach black rhinestones. Attached to the lower edge of the base of the card with dimensionals.
