Perfectly Plaid Subtle Christmas Tree Card

We are creating this card at our Shop-Create-Play event Sat Oct 5 in Freeport ME (home of LL Bean!)

This is a full size card, Real Red is 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 folded. Let's start from the most "outward" piece. The Whisper White is cut from the Stitched Rectangles and this one is 2 5/8 x 3 7/8. Stamped with 2 trees and a greeting in new Delicata Gold ink.

Add a Shaded Spruce tree in plaid - you need a scrap of Spruce about 2 x 2 1/2.  I used Spruce ink and love the tone on tone look.  Add that tree with dimensions.

The plaid layer is 3 x 4 1/4 (you could punch a few trees out of this as it's a hidden piece!!)

The next layer is Real Red 5 1/4 x 4 - I've run this layer through the big shot with the Subtle embossing folder for texture.  More later on this folder.

Now attach about 6" of the Spruce/Gold ribbon folded and tied with about 12" of white twine.  to easily thread the bell on, use a flosser (so really it's a giant plastic needle!!  Now attach the decorated ribbon with a glue dot. You can mail this - even with the bell- just add a "hand sort" to the front of the envelope and use the 70c stamp.

Stamp inside in the gold ink.  Stamp your envelope with a gold tree to match!

More on the Subtle folder. I like the texture it gives the paper, it almost looks like fabric.  I took a piece of real red and the plaid paper and ran half through the folder.

Can you see it up close?  I love this extra detail.  The top has the extra detail.

Another tip... if you spritz your paper with rubbing alcohol (water also works, rubbing alcohol dries faster), run it through the big shot and then press it to a jar of homemade goodies, then tie with twine and it looks like fabric!!

If you need any of the supplies, they are always in my online store, just click on the cart, and add the host code and at the end of the month, free crafty goodness will come to your mailbox! I love to share our host rewards.

happy crafting, MaryKate
