Butterfly Gala Swaps

Another swap (did you see my post yesterday with the Cupcake Swap?) For this one, we had a specific challenge: keep it simple which meant only 1 stamp set, 1 ink and you could use some designer paper or a punch (but not a Big Shot).   The challenge is called #SimpleStamping.

Here's my #SimpleStamping design.  

I love these butterflies and anything gingham get's on my crafty shopping list. My gingham paper is 4 x 5 1/4 and I used the left over piece on the envelope.  

The stamp set matches the punch and you stamp and punch the 2 butterflies at once.  The greetings are pretty, there's "a little note", this thank you and "you're beautiful". 

Personally it was quite the challenge to keep it simple but it was fun and I like the outcome.  I think I'd add a rhinestone (I used a glue dot and glitter) .. and maybe I'd have my butterflies in several colors.

Swap time!

A new catalog is coming out in January so we demonstrators take a quick break from Christmas and make swap cards.

We make 10 identical cards (or nearly identical) and then we get 10 back.

Going to the mailbox these days is so fun.  My swap uses the new Cupcake set that is free as part of Sale-A-Bration.  This is the time of year (January through March) where you choose 1 free item for every $50 you spend.


I thought this cupcake would be perfect for both Valentines and Birthday (and I switched out the greeting and made it into a Thank you as well.  

I added a little shimmer with Champagne Shimmer to the cupcake base - love just a little bit of shimmer.

Stampin Up Holiday Gift ideas

This time of year I get friends and husbands emailing me or calling me with "what should I get for so-and-so for a crafting gift"?

So I thought I'd give you a few ideas.  First.. .nothing Christmas or Holiday is my #1 recommendation. Opening up something that can't be used for a year is hard for a crafter :)

Here are my top 5 ideas:

1. The stamparatus and if you want to splurge a bag to match.  This is a tool that every stamper loves or wants. It makes stamping easy and produces fabulous results. It's a stamp positioning tool, so you put the stamp on the clear plate, secure your project with the included magnet, apply ink and press on the paper.  So many fun ways to use this great gadget.  Perfect stamping every time, everyone is a star crafter!

2.  A Paper Pumpkin subscription, this is a complete project (cards or packaging or both) that comes once a month. It's $20 a month and less when you buy 3, 6 or 12 months. Your crafter can "pause" the subscription, buy refills, it's a joy in the mailbox every month!

3.  Kits.  Kits comes with everything to make 20 or more cards. The box includes stamps, ink, all the supplies and projects are wow. My favorite is the Notes of Kindness, everyone needs thank you's!  

4.  A gift card to spend in January.  I'd suggest increments of $50 as in January we run an annual sale where for each $50 spent your crafter can choose a free item (stamps, paper, ribbon etc).  And I'll create a pretty gift card holder that your crafter will love!

5.  Stocking stuffers... we all need extra adhesive (tombow liquid, snail, refills, tear n tape) and dimensionals... we can never have enough!

These gift card holders are a thank you for people at the airport who are so helpful and kind.

You can make 2 from a single sheet of cardstock.

Your paper is 4 ¼ wide by 9 ¾ long, scored at 1 ¾, 4 ¾, 5 ¾, 6 ¾.   I used Poppy Parade 

 

Fold on the score lines and then with your trimmer cut out ¼ x 3 ¾ to make a hole. Or use your classic label punch, punch twice along the inside edge so you have a place for your gift card holder.  Below the hole, secure with tear n tape or liquid glue. 

Can you see how the gift card fits in nicely?

I added 2 cards inside with “Christmas greetings” and left the other blank to sign.

Make the Belly Band – I used the Santa’s Workshop paper that has flocking on it so tear n tape was good to secure it.

Then I stamped a plane in Bermuda Bay, cut it out with layering ovals and layered on to the scalloped oval.  I added this to the front of the Belly Band.

The belly band is 2 ½ x 6 ¼, wrap it around the holder (not too tight).  Add the plane (or whatever you’d like) with dimensions in the center of the oval and attach to the belly band.

The plane is a very very old stamp!  I don’t know where I bought it.  These gift card holders are for people at the airport who are super helpful and I wanted a plane theme!

Gift Card Holders - multiples!

This is another gift card holder for you - it can hold a note, or a card or a chocolate.  



I made 3 at once.  So start with an 8 1/2 x 10 1/2.  With the short side up, score at 2 and 6. 

Now cut the paper into 3 1/2 x 8 1/2 pieces. 

Fold on the score lines.  You seal up 2 sides and decorate. It's that fast!  I used 2 pieces of designer paper from Santa's Workshop cut 3 x 1 1/2 and 3 x 2 1/4. 

My belly band is 8 1/2 x  1/2 and I added a Mrs Claus cut from the same designer paper.  I added her with a dimensional.  I has some elf stickers left over from my Memories and More cards and so I added the elf inside.

Santa Gift Card Envelope

Hi -- I've a few different options for you to create fun gift card holders.  

This one uses the envelope punch board and is quick and easy.  

It opens up and there's a card to sign and a place for the gift card.

Here it is with the card and gift card inserted.

This was inspired by Chris Slogar who made a similar gift card envelope.

The paper is 8 x 8. Start your first punch at 3 ¼,, punch and score.  Now IGNORE the ruler and match the indicator to the score line.  Do this 3 times.. So it looks like an  envelope.

Put the LARGER triangles to the “north-south” direction.  Score a line from top to bottom with either a ruler/stylus, or a trimmer or your simply scored.

Now fold up the triangles to this score line. 

Snip out these triangles.  So now you have 2 left over pieces that are square (throw these away – ugh I hate waste!).

Round the corners of the 2 SMALLER triangles.

Burnish the folds.  This folds so easily into a gift card folder. Just adhere down the 2 envelope sides. 

Add the ½ strip to the inside card, stamp a greeting.

Put the ribbon on the outside, I adhered the ribbon with tear n tape, my ribbon was about 16" long.  Then I tied it with white twine.  If you wish decorate the front. 

When I took these photos I used the All is Bright paper and then last minute I changed my mind and used a Santa Workshop Santa with the Memories & More cards (I had a lot left after the advent calendar)

Coloring Club Projects for my Library

My local library in Florida asked me if I would bring a few projects for Coloring Club. 

I thought you might like to see what I brought.  It's just 1 hour and everyone brings their coloring tools of choice (I brought blends, but next time I'll bring my watercolor pencils with my blender pen).  

I created the little M&M packages with Mrs Claus (8 1/4 x 11, score on the short side at 1, 4 3/4, 5" and the cut 4 equal pieces on the long side at 2 3/4, 5 1/2 and 8 1/4).  You fold them up, add in the M&Ms staple and decorate.  

The card you've seen before - the Beautiful You butterfly and the back was dry embossing with the Seaside folder in Coastal Cabana.  

And the cute cookie cutter creatures with the matching punch.  

What do you think?  I can say that they loved the projects!!
