Paper Pumpkin August 2018 Blissful Blooms

A quick post today, my Paper Pumpkin arrived and I can't wait to play with it!

Here's the 2 min video on what it makes (stunning watercolor look cards) and later today or tomorrow I'll post the cards I make and a few alternative projects.

Such fun, just $20 a month for the stamp set, all supplies and the ink.   And refills are available (everything but the ink/stamps), and this refill is already on my list.

Happy stamping, MaryKate

PS... September Paper Pumpkin is all about Halloween and what I know is that it makes 24 treats.  We will use this Paper Pumpkin set in class Sept 24 at Warsaw, be sure to sign up (and we'll make items from the new Toil & Trouble suite as well).

Photo cards with a horizontal photo

Photo cards are great for congratulations, hello's or I think perfect for Christmas / holiday cards.

In this post
click here for the photo card - vertical
I showed you a card with a vertical look with a Congratulations to Cathy on her achievement of Silver!!

Here's the horizontal photo card look.  It's the same technique for a horizontal photo.  Here are a few tips.

Same idea:  You have an outside base card.  8 1/2 x 5 1/2 and remove 1/2 off the back of this base card. Decorate the front. I used the July 2018 Paper Pumpkin.

Create the inside card to hold the photo.  Take another whisper white 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 for inside the card (to hold the photo) and add some score lines so you have 3 scores:  ½, 4 ¼ and 4 ¾

Cut out a frame, for this larger photo of Susan Cathy and I, I used the Barn Door die set for a rectangle.  You can also use a trimmer to cut out this rectangle.  Or an oval, square or circle.  Now adhere your photo to the inside of this part of the card.

BEFORE you put the inside card together (to form a box), add some stamping or decorations.  My photo was big, so I added some balloon stickers from the July Paper Pumpkin set.

Now put the inside card together.

First adhere the inside card to the first base card.  Line up the very edge of the back of the base card right into the fold of the card – adhere this down to the back of the base card.  Snail or liquid glue works just fine. Try this first without adhesive, so you can see it work.

Then add tear n tape to the edge of the inside card. Can you see it in the photo to the left at the top of the inside card (above the photo of the 3 of us)?

Now adhere the ½” edge flap into the fold of the decorated card with tear n tape.  Put it right into the fold of the outside base card.  Close the card.   Now it will open and pop out.

Super easy - yes it takes a full sheet of cardstock!

I hope you try it.  Don't forget if you want a Paper Pumpkin you need to order by the 10th of the Month.

This is the set of cards the July Paper Pumpkin kit made (that I used for my base with these photo cards).

I can tell you that the September Paper Pumpkin is a Halloween Kit and I'll be using it in our Halloween classes.  You'll get ink, stamps, a block and supplies for all the projects.  Everything in 1 box. So easy! $20 per month.

Happy stamping, let me know if you have questions at MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com or if you'd like a project inspiration sheet!

The Smoosh Card in Beautiful You

Our "Fun Folds" class included this card.  It's 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 and then scored at 4 1/4 on 2 sides and then a diagonal score.

You can decorate this in so many ways.  I brought out the ever popular Beautiful You and used Stazon ink so we could use our markers.

We had all kinds of different paper and color options. Mine is Grapefruit Grove with the matching Love what you do paper.

Edited Aug. 17 2018
Here is Emma's card - paper and color makes a big difference.

I love her colored dress, it's so bold and eye catching. The Old Olive and Berry Burst combination is wow!

We had a quick refresh on the envelope punch board (tip: measure the card, the board tells you the size of paper and the first punch).  After the first punch and score, IGNORE the ruler and use the score line to line up for the next 3 punches.

Here's the original post with other "looks".

I hope you try it.  We have a few spots left for Sat Aug 25 Sea of Textures, let me know if you are "in", to ensure I have a kit for you.

Happy stamping MaryKate

PS don't forget, it's bonus days, for every $50 you spend, you get $5 to spend in September (just in time for the Holiday catalog.

A photo card - congratulations Cathy!

I love getting cards with photos!  Great at the holidays but also nice to send as a Congratulations.

This one is of my team mate Cathy celebrating a Silver Milestone at a Stampin Up Convention (sorry Cathy to get this to you so late!).

Easy to make.

Take a base card (the full 8 1/2 x 5 1/2) and trim 1/2 off the back edge of the card so your base is now 8 x 5 1/2, and decorate the front.  My base had "Hooray" on the front.

Now take another whisper white for inside the card (to hold the photo) 8 ½ x 5 ½ and add some score lines so you have 3 scores:  ½, 4 ¼ and 4 ¾

Cut out a frame, I did a square for a photo but you could do a circle or an oval.  Or for a larger photo the Barn Door die set for a rectangle

I used the stitched shapes and my Big Shot.  Now stamp on the front. Then create the box.  See lower right photo.

Insert photo.  Or you could stamp inside if you prefer.  Here's the card standing up with the photo inside.

Adhere to the first base card.  Line up the very edge of the back of the base card right into the fold of the card – adhere this down to the back of the base card.  Try this first without adhesive, so you can see it work.  Now adhere the ½” edge flap into the fold of the decorated card.  So now it will open and pop out.

Really easy and I hope has a "wow" factor. We did this card (both horizontal and vertical) as my fun folds class last week.

Happy celebrating! MaryKate

Healing Hugs Fun Fold

The Healing Hugs “arm” card, super easy and very versatile!

Dimensions:
White 3 7/8 x 3 7/8 (card front)
And 4 x 4 (inside of the card)
Gorgeous Grape 9 ¾ x 4 ¼ score at 5 ½
Gorgeous Grape 1 ¼ x 9 1/2 and score 5 1/2
Black 4 x 4 (punch the starburst from this piece in the middle)
Whisper white 2” circle  x 2
Starburst circle punch

Take the SMALLER whisper white piece and stamp the flower with not too much white space between the flowers

Stamp the greeting, the bit of texture”, punch out with 2” circle punch, adhere to the black Starburst circle, and if you wish, add a white circle to the other side for a “finished” look.

Take the LARGER whisper white piece and stamp the greeting in the middle and the flower in the corner, adhere this to the inside of the card.

Attach the arm to the back of the card base, centering it with the side.  Attach the circle/starburst. Put the glue on the ARM NOT the circle (so the edge of the circle does not get gluey and messes up the card front!

This set is one of several "distINKtive" sets in the new catalog that have a photo realistic look.  Super pretty.

Tip: use your bone folder to ensure the card folds flat.

This is a very easy card to make a lot of and I think it is really useful, and easily adapted to a birthday or sympathy or a thank you.  Just about any stamp set would work with this fun fold.

Kelly Acheson was my inspiration for this card and I made a few changes, thank you Kelly!

Happy stamping everyone - Don't forget it's BONUS days, for every $50 you spend, you get a $5 coupon (and you know with the new holiday catalog coming, there will be something you'll want :)

Cute Mini Apron Box

I posted in June on how to make these mini boxes.  You can click here to see the original post with all dimensions and instructions  Click here to see the Apron Box post

I was making up a parcel for my sister in law (taking care of her new grandson full time!) and thought I could add this into her care package.

It holds 4 Hershey nuggets and to make sure they didn't fall out, I put the box into a 3 x 6 cello bag with a little 2 x 3 topper.  Put a bow on something and it's an instant gift!

Happy crafting, MaryKate

More Fun Folds - the High Tide Tunnel card

Love this High Tide set (it's hard not to love lighthouses when you live in Maine!)

The front card is flat and has pretty simple stamping, just 2 colors, Crumb Cake, Balmy Blue with the Daffodil Delight layer.

Inside it looks like you look through a tunnel or a porthole!

You need two 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ sheets of card stock. The inside “window” piece Balmy Blue is scored at 2-1/8, 4-1/4″, 6-3/8″.   The outside piece is whisper white 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 and not scored prior to stamping.

Die cut a window in the center of the Balmy Blue window piece (I used the Layering Circles Framelits).

Make a Mountain fold and stamp.

The “base” piece is stamped on the inside before being folded in half.

I did a watercolor wash look with sponged coastal cabana on the top portion of my card and I stamped off the water stamp with Balmy Blue ink then sponged it with a sponge dauber. Again in light coastal cabana. Stamp the birds and the sun. You'll see that I used my grid paper to remind me where the middle was (it's not yet folded).  And my stamping goes past where it will show and you can look down into the card.

The front layer is 3 ¾ x 5 stamped with the light house, water, birds and sentiment.   The Daffodil Delight is 4 x 5 ¼.   Adhere these layers together.  Fold the white card in half and put the lighthouse on the front.

For the inside:  Adhere the left panel and the right panel of the window piece to the base piece.

What do you think? Will you try it?
What will you put in your "porthole" or tunnel??? What about the dragonflies? or some designer paper??

If you wish to join us for fun folds, RSVP quick, just 1 place left :)
