Notecard holder in Sweet Soiree and Myths & Magic Paper

This makes a great gift.  It holds 4 flat notecards and 4 envelopes.  You'll see it first in Sweet Soiree and then in other designer papers.  You need to select paper that is thicker or coated such as the Sale-A-Bration Foils or these papers.  

The holder is 6 x 12 scored  at 4 1/2 , 5 ¼ 9 ¾ and 10 ½.  Round 2 ends of the holder.  Fold the score lines.  

Take 2 magnets and ensure you have them together.  Add a magnet on the inside with a glue dot. Now put a glue dot on the other magnet (the 2 are “attached” for now).  Now fold the flap and press the magnets to the front, this way it lines up just right.  Put a small circle on the front (if the magnets are too strong).  I bought my magnets on Amazon, search for 1/4" thin magnets. 

With the remaining 6” cut 4 strips 1” x 12 these are for the top of the notecards and for the envelopes.  There will be 2 small pieces to decorate the boxes. 

Make 2 boxes to hold the envelopes and cards.  The box is 3 x 5 7/8 and scored at 3/8 and ¾ on 3 sides.  Remove the 2 squares at the bottom completely.  Yup cut them right off (these squares are ¾ x ¾) see top photo of green box.

Now fold on the score lines.  Put a glue dot to hold the box together and then adhere inside the folder.  I used liquid glue.. You can use tear n tape –but snail is not strong enough.

Decide if you want to have the faux (fake) bow or not.  If so make sure you leave room for the bow at the top of the card.  

The cards are 5 1/2 x 4 ¼ and the white front is 5 ¼ x 4.  Stamp on the  ½ white strips with the Fruit basket set.  Or really any set works!!

Adhere a strip of designer paper then the white strip.   

The faux bow:  punch 2 holes at the top of your card, put a loop of ribbon (about 8”) from front to back (bottom image) the turn the card over and put the left ribbon in the right hole bringing it from the front to the back. Your ribbon will fray, no problem, trim the ends.

Here it is in the Lots of Love paper - stunning gold stripes.  The faceted gem is just for decoration, it doesn't do anything, the magnets do the work!

And here in the Myths and Magic set, the paper is magical. I used a variety of ribbons - grey, Old Olive, shimmer black.

This is a fast easy project that has a wow factor, I hope you try it!

Zee Fold Card with Blends on Foil paper

This is so pretty. I love the way the blends react with the coated specialty paper and the foil inlay. 

In fact I loved the Sale-A-Bration item of Specialty Foils.  This week I have a series of cards using these foils and anyone who places an order of $50 or more with a host code will get 48 6 x 6 pieces of this amazing paper.  Until sold out. 

See the cutting pattern below, this is cutting NOT assembling.

Take the 2 pieces large and 3 small pieces of foil, and color using blends  the flowers and leaves with coral, cherry cobbler and old olive.  Set aside to dry.  Consider using a heat tool on low to help it dry. 

Stamp the greeting from A Mother's Flair and punch with a 1 3/4" circle, punch out a 2" gold foil circle and layer together. I punched the gold from the background foil (as you won't see it after it's all layered up).

Now put the card together.  Fold and burnish all score lines.  Now layer the colored flowers on the gold. 

On the main card based, layer the largest piece on the inside then layer the smaller flowered piece on the front. 

Make the long skinny band, scored at 2 ¾ and 5 ½ Attach the longest part of the skinny piece to the front of the card (see photo on top) (just the first 2 1/8” inches) and then attach the last part of this skinny piece to the inside.  Add your greeting to the front.

This card is a notecard 7 x 5 folded.  

Back layer is 4 ¾ x 3 ¼  Foil is 4 ½ x 3

You can color this or not.. if you wish to color it...with your dauber, softly and slowly swirl on EITHER  an ombre of blues or pinks or greens onto the foil.  Take your time, add color very slowly. Tip: after you tap your dauber on the ink pad, take some color off onto your grid paper.

Die cut Sunshine (and remove SUN) die cut on from congrats.  Add Shine on to the front of this foil layer and then layer up the card.  OR die cut Celebrate. 

Using the Swirly bird dies cut the foil paper on the “swirl”, layer on top of the copper base. Add ribbon I used the 1/4 organza. This is great ribbon as you can easily color it with a marker.

So if you had a graduate you could pick school colors for the word and the foil or the ribbon!  OR you could color on the specialty paper, I used Island Indigo (retiring ugh...get it quick before it disappears!).  and then cut out the word.

A tip: I used the swirly bird dies and the largest die is 6" wide.  So as the Big Shot is 6" wide I needed to be careful to ensure it was centered...and the last one I cut.. you know it, I had the die off center, it caught on the edge and the die broke (so I have a leaf die now! Just sharing so you don't do what I do :)

Foil Cards with a Mother's Flair

The Matt Finish with Specialty Coated Paper

This Card is 8 ½ x 5 ½ folded

Back layer is 4 x 5 ¼

Gold and silver foil is 3 ¾ x 5

To get the matt finish take your ink pad and pat it on the specialty foil paper (like a smear) and with a paper towel, using a swirly motion, remove the ink from the foil paper. It's like polishing.  The paper is coated so the ink will come off on the paper towel.   I love the black (use Memento NOT archival) and the night of navy. 

I also tried it with Tempting Turquoise, Calypso Cora

l, Daffodil Delight, and then Emerald Envy.

Keep swirling for about 2-3 minutes to get an even matt finish.   

I used the wow Mother's Flair set.. I think it's been overlooked.  It's on the "last chance" list as it retires May 31 or until sold out.  Super cute and versatile. 

Stamp your image, die cut a scallop oval, attached together.  Place about 10” of thin gold ribbon on top of the card below the oval image. Stamp inside the card.  Stamp the envelope too.

Beautiful Day Cards in a Pouch

This set uses the Beautiful Day stamp set, the Petal Passion paper for the pouch and the Sweet Soiree for the green stripes on the card.  The paper is retiring by May 31 or sooner if it runs out, so get it while it's still here!!  

Stamp 4 flowers with memento ink. Hand cut.   Color in with blends. So fun, so easy and everyone flower in every color is wow!

Now create the cards.  I used the notecards (20 for $6, finished at 3 ½ x 5), a 2 x 5 strip of the green stripe and a 1 ¾ strip of vellum (it just softens the green stripe).  Adhered down the 2 strips, add the flower, stamp and adhere the greeting (1/2 strip with another ½ strip of Old Olive, both flagged).  Maybe a rhinestone? Or Pearl? Or a colored dot.  Maybe pearls in the center of the flower?

Now make the pouch

Cut the Sheet at 7 ½ x 12”

Score on the long side at 5 ½ and 6 ½

Score on the short side at 1 7/8 from each end – the red dashed lines.

Fold the red line into a valley fold so the edge with the C’s is sticking up straight.  I put my fingernail at point A, and bring point C to point B which is flat on my table.  Because the edge of the paper with the point C is folded up, the diagonal fold line is created at 90 degrees

And finally make the “cover flap” for the pouch and the belly band. 

The blue thick lines are where you will put glue AFTER you created and insert the back flap.

To make the closure, cut the matching piece 3 3/4 x 6, score at 4 and 4 ½. Fold on the score lines.   See the red dashes for score lines. 

See the green lines for cutting.  The long green lines are just ¼ “ in from the edge. Measure this and cut (it’s easy with your trimmer – line up the top with the groove and then the bottom is ¼” over and then trim that tiny bit of each side. It really makes a difference.  See the top 2 green cutting lines?  Cut. No need to measure, they will be hidden in the pouch.

Now adhere the back of the flap that is 1 ½ by  3 ¾ (less what you trimmed) into the back of the pouch. Secure this. 

I then adhere down each folded side to hold the insides of the bag together.

Make a belly band about 3/4 wide x 10” from matching  Basic Black card stock, fold it around the pouch gently, then once the folds are in place fold it firmly, adhere the ends together  and attach a 5/8 strip of old olive to match your leaves and the green striped paper on the cards, and then add a ½ strip of vellum, then your 4th flower

A really easy but very wow project.

My tail is wagging - new colors!!

My tail is wagging!!  Stampin’ Up! is updating their core color collections as well as adding 5 new In Colors starting June 1. On the right are the current 2017-2019 in Colors.

THE DETAILS

There are still four color collections, each with ten colors. There is also a new color group called Basics.

In order to keep the color collections to exclusive Stampin’ Up! colors, Basic Black, Very Vanilla, and Whisper White have been moved out of the Neutrals collection into Basics.

Stampin’ Up! also moved a few colors (Merry Merlot, Mossy Meadow and Night of Navy) into the Neutrals collection, making it more exciting and colorful!

Here are all the NEW colors.

And here are returning colors... yay for Blackberry Bliss! I love a company that listens to us... we loved these, told them and they are back!!

Some additional colors have changed collections as well—you’ll notice this as you look through the new collections below. You can refer to the old and new color charts in the 2018-2019 catalog when it’s released on June 1. 

And we have new colors tools.  A color coach, fully downloadable. Here's an example... what goes with Merry Merlot???

I'll be creating color packs and will have all the new colors, new inks, new markers and new cardstock ready for you to touch and feel around Mid-May (stay tuned!)
