Make a paper mug with Stampin UP supplies: Banner Year and Gleaming Paper

It's gift card holder week - every day a new way to "wrap" a gift card.

Here's a video link to show you how to make this! click here for the video

Let’s make a mug! It’s a large mug that holds a bag of candy or hot chocolate or a gift card.

Cut your mug from 6 x 9 ½

Score on the long side at 1 ½, 3, 4 ½ 6, 7 ½, 9;

Score along the short side at ¾  (the top of the mug) and 1 ½ for the bottom of the mug.

If you want your mug to be shorter score the top lower eg at 1 or 1 ¼

Trim the side tab – this is the ½”  edge – trim off both the top and bottom squares, miter the edge

Burnish the folds, add the dsp cut 3 ½ x 1 ¼ to only 5 sides one side will not (yet) have DSP.

Cut the tabs at the bottom (no need to miter).

Fold down the top “cuff”

Put tear n tape along the ½ side tab and the fit the tab into the on to the mug to make it a hexagon.

Now turn your mug upside down, and adhere all the tabs putting a bit of liquid glue on each tab. Hold the mug carefully to ensure it dries nice and evenly (no wonky mugs!)

Cover the bottom with a 1 ½ or 2” circle (to look nice, not essential) stamping to / from on the circle.

Handle: cut ¾  x 6  and fold over the ends at ¼”

Curl your handle with a bone folder.

Take your last piece of dsp and attach the handle ends to the dsp (so the ends of the handle are hidden behind the dsp.  Now attach the dsp to the mug (use strong adhesive).

This is where you attach the handle to the dsp and then add this to mug so now you have 2 covered panels.

Your mug just needs decorating and filling.          I added a greeting from the Beautiful Banner set with the 2 heart punches.  I used a 3 x 6 cello bag for my mug cake, with 14” of ribbon – you can fill with hot chocolate, candy, a gift card, anything!

I hope you make one!
