Make a card and matching envelope with patterned paper

Here's a fun easy project.  I love the use of the designer paper for the card and envelope. Email me if you want the project sheet to MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com

Here's a video making the card and envelope

And at the end of the video I show you a suite of cards from Artistically Inked - it's a wow set!

Supplies

12 x 12 sheet of designer paper

Shapes (dies, punched shapes etc) in Basic white and matching cardstock

5 ½ x 4 ¼ cardstock to match the paper

3 ¾ x 5 Basic white

1 x 4” of foil

~12-16” of matching ribbon

Optional: twine and brads to close the envelope.

Optional: Trio punch to round the corners

Card.

1.    Cut the paper 4 x 12 for the card – thinking about the direction of the paper. My card is horizontal so, the paper is too.

2.    Trim the paper to 4 x 10 ½ and fold in half.

3.    Attach to the 5 ½ x 4 ¼ piece of cardstock.

4.    Attach the foil to the front edge of the card

5.    Stamp your greeting and attach to the matching colored shape

6.    Attach to the front of the card, add ribbon in a bow or a zee

7.    Attach a 3 ¾ x 5 white piece inside the card

Envelope - see the diagram above for cutting and scoring.  The red is cut out, the dashed lines are scores.

1.    Cut the paper 6 x 12

2.    Score on the short side at ¾ from either side (so ¾ and 5 ¼)

3.    Score on the long side at 2 and 7 ¾

4.    Burnish the folds

5.    Trim using the diagram.

6.    Round the corners if you wish

7.    Fold up the envelope and secure the sides

Color and Contour Freesia Spine card

 It's a spine card!

Base 4 ¼ x 11, score at 4 ¼, 5 ½, 6 ¾

Freesia layers:  4 x 4 and 4 x 1

White is 3 7/8 x 3 7/8 and 3 7/8 x 7/8

Tips:

Adhere the spine part of the card with glue inside so it only opens at the scoring.  Cut a vee or use a small e.g., 1/2" circle punch to make the notches on the spine.

Once your stamping is done, layer this up and add to the card.

Now tie your ribbon around the spine, add in an extra piece of lace or tulle ribbon!

Super easy but a pretty effect.

Color and Contour Pretty Layered Card with Texture

A pretty card with texture and layers.  Texture comes from small details with splattering, the large vellum layer, the die cuts, the twine and bling embellishments.  I'm doing a video later today and when done I'll add in a link.

Cutting details
Blushing Bride         5 ½ x 8 ½, score at 4 ¼; 5 ½ x 4 ¼
Vellum         3 ½ x 5
Pool Party     4 x 3 for die cut
Basic White for die cutting label
Rose Gold Glimmer paper      3 ¼ x 3/8
DSP    3  ¾  x 5 ¼ cut
DSP    3 ½ x ¾ for inside the card

1.Cut  DSP  to  3 ¾ x 5 ¼,  then  into 3  1 ¼ strips.      DSP  at 3 ½ x ¾

2.Die cut vellum scalloped rectangle, Pool Party flower die cut (Hand Penned Dies) and white label (tasteful labels).

3.Stamp splatter in Pool Party onto label die. Stamp sentiment in Memento Black.

4.Glue strips of DSP to card base.  Now create the vellum layer, die cut the Contour rectangle). Add the flower die cut, then add the greeting label with dimensionals.  Add a twine bow.  Add bling (why not!)?

Color & Contour - Layered Cards

I love these nested Color & Contour dies, here's a quick card that has a pop of color

These cards are the same, except the Polished Pink uses the die cut for the flower and dimensionals pop up the flower, and the Fresh Freesia has a "flat" flower.

Base 8 ½ x 5 ½

2 nested dies (largest and 2nd largest) from the Contour die sets.

Greeting ¾ x 2

What makes the card is the coordinating ink, ribbon and cardstock!

Happy crafting MaryKate

PS Don't forget - free shipping June 24 on all orders $50 or more - and the host code will get you bling in the mail!

Color and Contour with a Scalloped Edge card

The contour dies include a scalloped edge die.  This "edge" die is perfect to dress up the edge of a box or a card.

A few tips:

Cut the DSP (patterned paper) and then without adhering it down, run it though your die cutting machine. Do you stamping on the patterned paper.  Now glue it down (you don't want your dies gummed with adhesive).

Base 5 ½ x 8 ½

DSP 3 ½ x 5 ½

Run the base and DSP through the Stamp Cut and Emboss, then adhere to the front.

Stamp and die cut flowers (I stamped off the bumblebee), add splatters, greeting.

Pale Papaya for the 4 pieces of ribbon (2” folded, adhered to back with Seal +)

The ribbon look is different - it's a 2" folded piece that is adhered to the back. So not a bow!

This is a great bundle, if you liked the Stitched Dies, Nested Dies, Stitched So Sweeting dies... this set is for you. Super versatile.

Color & Contour Zee Fold card

A zee fold for you today!

Base 8 ½ x 5 1/2 scored at 2 1/8, fold over the front to make the "zee"

Use 3rd largest die in the Color & Contour set for the front greeting, stamp your flower and then stamp with the flower petals (2 step stamping). You'll see the 2nd stamp is a bit "blotchy", that's the look, not a perfect lining up of the petals to the base.

There are lots of options to color the petals: Stampin Blends (our alcohol markers), a Stampin Write Marker, a Blender pen dipped in any ink you wish.

Stamp thank you in Black memento.

The Patterned Paper is from the Hand-Penned collection, cut at 2 x 5 1/8 for front and inside, it's the same paper using both sides.  I love that our paper has patterns on both sides that coordinate.

I added a papaya ribbon to the front with a glue dot.

I'm featuring this Color & Contour all week on my blog, an amazing versatile stamp and die set (in my online store if you don't already have it)!  I have a tutorial with 10 Color & Contour projects, free to customers and my team or for sale $10, contact me MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com

Happy crafting (and happy to answer questions, don't hesitate to reach out!)
