Toil and Trouble Pop Up Card

This can be a card or décor. Sometimes it’s called a wiper card. Here it is closed....

and the open with the witch hat popping up.

And the how-to (surprisingly easy!)

2 pieces of cardstock  6 ¾ x 4 ¼, score on the long side 5 and 5 ¾

2 x 2 ½ with a score line in 1 corner about 1/2 “ on each side (see photo) this will hold the hat.   You can see I attached the hat and then trimmed around the hat edge.

Can you see the tiny 1/2" diagonal score line? Make sure you line this up just like the photo so it pops out.

For the front, I used glossy paper (pre-embossed for ease at class) or you can emboss with dots and heat embossing).  3 ¾ x 4 ¼.  You need glossy paper (available in my online store) so you can wipe the ink on the front.

1. Make the card.  Insert the small piece perpendicular to the front of the card.  Glue this firmly with liquid glue.  See photos below for placement.  The piece should “flap” towards you, down into the card.

2. While the glue dries:  Sponge on 3 colors. Tap the ink pad, tap “off” the color on grid paper and swirl onto the glossy paper and if needed take off the ink with a power towel in a swirling motion.   I used Gorgeous Grape, Real Red and Mango melody.

3. Stamp and die cut the house. I used the set from Festive Farmhouse (really a Christmas set but great for Halloween as well).

4.  Now the glue is dry.  Attach the hat, trim the cardstock.  Test to see it all works. Attach the  larger front to the back  pieces.

5. Decorate the front with the colored piece, the Farmhouse house (black ink on the Grape) and  attach the house and bats with dimensionals.  I used the bat punch and black foil for the bats.  Attach the fence with 2-3 glue dots.  My fence is “floating” as the house has dimensions.  You could put a white piece on the back with a greeting.

I hope you make one!  Happy stamping, MaryKate

Star of Light card - making 60 cards!

I'm working on a simple but wow design for 60 cards.

What do you think?

I used the silver-edged foil cards, silver embossing and 3 of the greetings.

Here's the stamp set - it's Star of Light and was released last year and was in the top 3 sets of the season. I'm very happy they kept it.  The dies are also really wow!

I like it.  Is it too plain? Do you have suggestions for me?
I think with the stamparatus and a few friends we could make 60 of these and have a super fun afternoon.

By the way.. a tip.. do you see the tiny smudge over the larger greeting on the left side of the card? Here's what I found out. When you heat emboss these cards, the card slightly (very slightly) warps and then it's easy to get a smudge.  Two solutions:  emboss last and also use the stamparatus!

I'd love to hear you ideas!

Fun day at our "big event"

We had a great time Saturday at our big "crafting" event.  Of course we had prize patrol. Each person had a colored Cookie Cutter Creature and when I pulled out blue.. those holding the blue creature got a prize.

Here they are... I think any time you put a box on something it becomes a gift! Easy packaging, easy to create, fun to open, just a bag, staple and a bow.

Team crafting!

We meet as a team on the last Thursday of the month and I share information, ideas, business tips...but our favorite part is the team crafting.

Everyone gets a package mailed to them (we are all over the country!) and we connect on Facebook Live.  I make the projects and everyone crafts along together.  It's recorded so some people choose to watch it later.  Here are the projects I made for September.

I provide a few tips, ideas and some "how-to's".

Everyone is asked to post their projects so we can see how each person "makes it their own".  It will be fun to see how each person chose to close their treat packaging.  I used a hat glued to a clothespin, and for the other one (the 2 x 8 bag) I stapled some sparkle ribbon on the back and added the cauldron, I hope the ribbon looks like something coming out of the cauldron!!

I'll post team projects here in the next week or so, that way you can get some fun ideas!

We are a fun team of hobby stampers who like their 20% discount and also have several team members really making a great business... I love everyone does it "their way".  Click on Connect and Join tab to learn more about us!  Or email me MaryKate@MaryKateScott.com

Team Challenge - a card with a tag or gift card insert

We have fun team challenges where we get a sketch, like this....

and we create our interpretation.

This one is by Jacklyn Anderson in CA, love the Halloween theme.

Here's mine... I love a gift card holder. I think we'll make this at class Oct 15 at Warsaw.

This one is from Susan Morrison in ME - you can see more of her work at www.207colorfulcreations.com, I love her color combination.

And this one is from Cathy Jones (and she won - so she gets to choose any stamp she wants!).  There were 16 entries and the winner is chosen by the random number generator. Love the copper paper, ribbon and designer paper.

This one from Heather Shaw.. I love the masculine look, I think I'd swap a greeting.. maybe Happy Hunting?? We are in Maine after all :)

I love this one for a baby shower by Judy Iervolino in CA

Super pretty by April Sheffield in WA (we are all over the country and stay connected on Facebook, at team meetings in person and online and twice a year with the "all demonstrator event")

Did you have a favorite??  I thought you might get great inspiration from these ideas.  Happy Stamping, MaryKate
