Painted Poppy Elements

Do you ever order something and then it goes unopened for a while? You think... what will I do with this?  That was me with the Poppy Elements.

You get 8 sheets: 2 of the poppy die cuts (nice heavy cardstock), 2 that are embossed with white embossing powder on our thick watercolor paper, 2 with vellum elements and 2 with black shapes with nice clear embossing.

Wow... so super easy to use! I created 3 cards using mainly the water color and the vellum pieces.   To water color, use an inkpad or a re-inker and an aquapainter and just scribble. I really mean it! Dip the brush in the ink and swirl it on the flowers (I used Poppy Parade and Rich Razzleberry). Go right over the edge. Then swirl on the green, I used Old Olive.  When dry, press out from the sheet.

If it's too dark, dab with paper towel.  Add a few layers of color by "dotting on" some ink. Let it dry. At then end rub your paper towel over the shapes and there they are .. so pretty!  Do you see the flowers below on the left with the layers of color?

I love this pinky look with Razzleberry.  The back layer is Lovely Lipstick (this is a retiring in-color, so get your Lovely Lipstick supplies as soon as you can!)

And a few close ups. You'll see I dry embossed with the Parisian folder (any folder works great) and I added some gems from the Valentine collection (the Poppy sequins were more red than pink). 

All card bases are 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 folded from Thick Whisper White

And a different look with the Poppy Parade inks and can you see...behind the flower is a vellum shape.

Peaceful Poppies with Peaceful Moments

I love these bright poppy cards!  I could not choose a favorite color combination.  Which do you love?

I used several combinations:
Poppy Parade with Flirty Flamingo (all my leaves are Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive)

These Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather combinations with the Mango Medley - I thought perfect for Easter

Do you see how I changed up the borders a bit? Some show the white base and others don't.  I like to vary my borders and see which look I like best (and then create a lot!)

This one on the left is a combination of Flirty Flamingo and Melon Mambo (a darker pink). and the one on the right is Poppy Parade and Flirty Flamingo

I scattered a few of our classic rhinestones and used the Peaceful Moments sentiment set (that set has had quite the work out over the past few months).

I think this one is my favorite.  Inside the greeting is about having a Peaceful Passover. I don't make too many Passover cards but hope this one works.

And finally a deeper card, no bling, for a sympathy card.

I'd love to know which is your favorite combination.  

Tips on making these cards:  I cut a big bunch of the flowers and tried different layers.  The top pink poppy has a Poppy Parade overlap and the bottom has Melon Mambo

I selected which I liked better and then assembled with the leaves.  Tip: use the white glue only on the center of the flower and let the edges stay unglued as this gives a nice 3d look with the layering.  And otherwise it would be easy to glue everywhere!

I matched the ink in the flowers to the sentiment so the focus stays on the flowers.

April Paper Pumpkin - Your wonderful family

Hi all - many of you are asking about crafting kits.  We have lots of fun options and Paper Pumpkin is at the top of my list. Butterfly Gala - Appreciation Package as you are "safer at home"

I created a packet of fun:   a card holder and 4 cards for customers and my team, as we all "stay safer at home". It's FREE to anyone who shopped with me over these Sale-A-Bration months or on my team (until supplies run out).

This card holder can easily hold 4 full size cards and 4 envelopes.  When selecting paper for this project, find heavier weight designer paper or use cardstock as I did. These projects are designed to be used with the very popular butterfly punch and Butterfly Gala stamp set.  If you don’t have these you can hand cut the butterflies and use any sentiment you wish!

The designer paper is retired and I got it for free during last year's Sale-A-Bration.

Do Something Creative Everyday
